totally agree. Worpel is a good player and showing interest in him shows that maybe they are somewhat aware that Trac and Oliver may go.

Because we know full well that Viney will be attending centre bounces until his last rites are read (or until his contract finally expires, whichever comes first), Oliver’s contract is poison to other clubs currently, and most would much rather see Langford, Windsor, Rivers, Tholstrup and Lindsay get mid time over James bloody Worpel, who is basically an ALDI version of the mids we're all sick of lol

Even if you did want to put in another player of that type surely you'd just give Sparrow extra midfield time.

Maybe the club could show some interest in a forward?
I would never have wanted to give up pick 5. In reality if we got him cheaper no one would have cared. The way we are trying to play isn’t working because we have no one who can kick it like Houston. Not saying things would be much better but we’d have far less turnovers from half back and more looks at goal.

Worpedo is actually worse than Oliver by foot, so it's not something I'm excited about, I'm just saying it's not a hard move to understand if you're thinking about why we would be considering it.
It is hard to understand. We are being flogged by mids who can’t kick and turn it over all match.
So why bring in more? Or replacement ones with even worse disposal?

Again, I'll clarify - It's not a move I particularly like, but:
Trac and Clarry both possibly gone. Kozzy also. Viney is 31 in the next week or so and is struggling. Sparrow and Laurie ain't it. We're getting smashed for clearances. Worpel is a free agent and is 26, an age group we already have a huge hole in with our list. Absolutely no one wants to come to us at the moment, it's not like we can go 'oh just get someone better' - None of the 'someone betters' want a bar of us.
It's all fine to say 'we need better mids!', but they flat out don't want to come to us. Not sure how much more people need to understand about a player we had signed, sealed and delivered pulling out and calling out the mess we are as the for reason people need to understand.
Sooo why not play Rivers, Langford, Culley, Tnolstrupp and Windsor along with Viney and Sparrow (let’s be honest Sparrow isn’t going anywhere).
Maybe even throw Mcvee in there. All better options than another bloke who can’t hit the side of a barn whose manager will bend Lamb over for a ridiculously sized contract.
It’s just replacing the problem with an even bigger problem.
Knowing our blokes we would try turn Pickett, Oliver and Trac into pick 1 and grab Duursma who also can run through the midfield. (Along with any other 2nd or 3rd rounders we have for the next 2-3 years).
Hell I would rather we reopened the Salem into midfield experiment again then go down the Worpel path.

Because most of those players you've listed are kids. Were you a Dees fan in the early to mid 2000s?
McVee has been terrible in the middle so far, Culley is literally the type of pick up you've complained about all day every day on there.
I'm tapping out mate, you just have too simplistic a view of this stuff that isn't based in reality.
It’s simplistic to think Worpel is the only recruit we can actually bring in. Thats Tim Lambs mentality every time he throws out a contract.

Don't remember anyone on here complaining we suck because of clearances thats a false narrative. But here's a good idea, rather than focusing on a model that's not working and bringing in shitter versions how about we build a gameplan that relies on something else
It’s a no on Worpel for me. We need to go move away from drafting players with poor foot skills. If the club thought they may be moving on Trac and Clarry then I’d understand it more. However his recruitment would still not excite me.
I'd happily take Worpel if it meant I don't ever have to see Sparrow in a Melbourne jumper ever again
Every team would love Houston. But not at the expense of where our list was at. Was a dumb move offering up what we did at a time we need high end picks. But with Lamb and Goody in charge I'm not surprised.
Be interesting to see how the Pies go in regards to their list and draft hand. Their age demographic suggests they're about to tip over a cliff. And no doubt will go hard for Trac. But they are a big club that is able to attract free agents etc. So they can afford to take these risks unlike us.
Lamb and Goodwin need to be removed before they completely f* this list for another decade. Worpel can't kick. Not surprised they want to go after him. Just dumb list management. Seriously. Lamb is taking a hatchet to this list. Wake up MFC
