The points you make are exactly why I chose 'premierships won' as the metric, over all of those individual accolades. A team that's finished last, is the furthest away from a premiership, and in possession of pick 1, should be trying to build a premiership-winning list, not focusing on who will get the most Brownlow votes or All Australians.

One player cannot win a premiership alone, so why go all in on one player?

I don't have a problem with splitting a pick to get more picks but nor do I think it is necessarily the best option. The players you get with your pick 19 and 37 (or whatever they become) can be pretty good too. (E.g. the Warner brothers, Parker, Hannebery and Goodes all taken with picks close to pick 40).

I do think that looking at an 18 year old kid to win you a premiership (or even 3 18 year old kids) is a bit optimistic. And I particularly don't get why you would be comparing the number of premierships won by players selected at different picks is a useful metric.

The security at the MCG is many times tighter than at the SCG. I have someone take a cursory look in my bag. They never rummage around. Then I walk to the ticket gate, past the guys with the wands who always ignore me, and walk into the ground. If I had any interest in bringing a gun into the SCG it would be pretty easy, I reckon.

In contrast, I don't think I've entered the MCG over the last (at least) five years without being wanded down. Everyone is. And they search bags more thoroughly too.

The only time I have been wanded at the SCG was when entering through the Members' area gate to watch an AFLW practice game, with a total crowd of a couple of hundred. I guess the thought process was that, since it was possible to wand every patron, they might as well do so, rather than any assessment of risk. Go figure.
I was going to say a similar thing about the SCG. I don't carry a bag anymore so I don't even get a bag check, I go straight in the no bag gate and I can't ever remember being wanded.

Yeah in fairness I never said it was the best option, just that it is an option with merit. In West Coast's case though, I think it was the option they should've taken, because their list is seriously dismal and if Reid requests a trade, or doesn't become the player they'd hoped for (both serious possibilities), then that draft pick - earnt from a historically bad season - was all for naught.

The 2 men were working with security? otherwise there is just NO way you can casually walk in with loaded firearms in your pants..

This sounds like a planned hit or gang related not to mention they were both out on bail.

I only carry a smallish hand bag with very limited contents. They take a look inside. Get wanded every now and then. Super relaxed. Where I sit in Bay 28 is very cool. Security wander through from time to time, coppers maybe once per match. There's only been one dingbat in 13 years. SCG is really very cool.

What? No mink blankie in winter, Jewels? You're made of sterner stuff than I.

I regularly get wanded, but might be the leather jacket.

I'm guessing Collingwood will actually challenge the 2 weeks.

They'll argue that the grading of 'high impact' should be downgraded as Fogarty didn't need a HIA and suffered no injury from the contact.
And will win knowing the AFL

there is something fundamentally wrong with the way the outcome determines things. outcome should be an added element (a penalty if you will or aggravating circumstances) but when you go past the ball and collect someone thats got to be determined by the act not the outcome

Feels like it shouldn't be this hard to be consistent

1 security guard stuffed up , was probably on his phone watching the IPL
The good thing is that they were caught before incident
I look forward to my additional search tomorrow night. Will be the most intimate touching I've had in a while.

Yep. My mother who is in her 70's would definitely be my smuggling mule if I wanted to get booze into the ground. They just wave through little old ladies.

They should have frisked me grand final day, forgot to take away my misguided faith I was carrying.
