Don’t mind the new Lindsay, very sharp ball user. Ave 26 touches, 20 kicks. One to watch if we or Norf start winning a few games.

Yeah really liked Lindsay’s futures game. Such a good kick.

Sam Grlj is another I like the look of. He's quick. Our picks probably too early the way it's looking

I really liked that oakleigh midfield of grlj, Holmes and Allen. All looked to have speed and agility.

NHH - 1 touch, 1 goal. Did he get injured?

But quieter Duursma - 1 goal, 8k, 9h, 2m, 4t, 3i50
I switched on and off of this game, never saw NHH so assume injured.

Duursma just sort of floated around.

Saw Neocleous get nailed holding the ball and then held onto blokes leg and the guy fly kicked him, no reversal. Hilarious 😁

I’d hate to bring up another forward, but can you have too many…? Not all of them will make it…Liam Hetherton (Bushie’s) is not doing a lot wrong…He has Jonty vibes to me…Riley Onley is a watch…Bad attitude is still evident…

I hope we're looking at those with outside class and speed. Would really like someone who could start as a distributor of HB in the way Daicos/Sheezel did before becoming involved in the midfield.

Interesting watching Geelong tonight and seeing Zac Guthrie - a spud early - and Conor O’Sullivan - who they held back year 1 , develop in to such high quality players. Naturally there are your Dusty’s that thrive in any environment but development is so crucial and hopefully our lads are getting the appropriate education and cultural development. Make or break otherwise.
* I often ponder if tambling went to hawthorn and buddy to the tigers if old how their career trajectory’s would have panned out…🤔
Thankfully we took Tambling.
Otherwise we wouldn't have got Cotch and Dusty.

That’s Fred at this stage, the oakleigh boys are probably 5-25 picks. So if Norf rise (which I think will be more a case of the middle of pack teams Ess, Blues, Dees collapsing than Norf rising) they probably come into contention or WCE get 400 picks we might have to “reach”.

I wonder if we are gonna need a crash and bash mid like sharp too. Lalor could do it but seems silly to waste him in that role. McAuliffe could also fill that spot, feel like him and Juddy’s development this year could have the most impact on our draft strategy.

Or the Korin Gamadji academy, which in my book has been a real positive for the club.

Buddy would have failed at Richmond imo, we didn’t have the guard rails at the time to control/guide him.

i was hot on him early but could see him being a bit of a slider tbh. not outside the first round or anything but down the pecking order a bit. speed and kicking are areas he needs to improve which are significant factors looking at a modern midfielder especially in the top 10.
Hoping he kills it this year.
See what Port & Crows would give up to get him.

WC pick 1 lock it in Eddie. They are dead as a club.

can probably lock in pick 2 for them as well, Allen has bigger offers from rivals and west coast aren't going to match it if they can get pick 2
Geez if the Eagles want to be daring and trade Reid as well too Ess.
Picks:1/2(Allen)3 & 6 (Reid) atm.

I dont think it will impact us at all. We should have 2 x top 5 picks or close to it, we wont get cute, we will take best available, we have to.

I think it makes a big difference. The top of this draft is gonna be 4-5 different types and best available can always be swung by needs when players are in the same tier (I agree if there is a clear separation between players take best available).

Plus I’ve just watched Norf keep taking “best available” at the expense of their forward and back lines. GWS took best available for years and finally realised they needed a cadman type.

If McAuliffe cements himself as best 22 and we are tossing up between CDT and Sharp, it makes it much easier to take CDT. But if he doesn’t, well to me there is a glaring hole in our current and future midfield for somebody to just smash in and get the ball out to Smillie and Lalor to take full advantage of their exquisite ball use.

I don’t see a world where we ever draft Curtin no matter if he’s best available.

We already have too many.

If players come back from Injury and we have a forward line including Lynch, Lefau & Blight (backup ruck) which would mean the VFL forwards would need to include

Bauer, Fawcett, Ryan, Armstrong, Sims & Faull.

If everyone's fit, which I guess is unlikely, then we aren't going to be able to play all the tall forwards we currently have.

Agree to disagree home slice

A slightly slower start to the season for Emmett although this game was more impressive than his modest stats would suggest as Emmett sat out the entirety of the fourth quarter with Oakleigh dominating the game. Emmett showed his natural forward craft, finding space and presenting into the right areas for his teammates. He took some impressive contested marks, and could have had more if it wasn't for his teammates spoiling him and a dodgy umpiring decision on the near wing. It feels like it's only a matter of time before Louis has a huge game to remind everyone of his talent.

Fair.

But genuine question, say we have pick 3 and 6, WCE takes Fred and Curtin 1 and 2, and the next 3 on board are Greeves, Sharp and CDT before there is a talent gap to Onley, Cumming etc.

Who would you pick? Are you not considering list make up and what spots are open or will be open in our best 22 going forward?
