USA 2024 US Presidential Election: Trump vs Harris (pt II)

We have an independent electoral commission and things get changed according to population. Results like 1990 and 1998 can happen but they don’t favour a particular party, no one can game the system.

Question re the electoral college, how do they work out the numbers of each state? Are they locked in until the end of time? What happens if California hit 50 million would they get a bigger slice of the pie? Or if Alabama hit 10 million?
The senate allocation is a shocker , California 40 mill has same number as montana 1.2 mill

trump's billionaires rigging the vote no doubt

kamala's rallies have been energetic and are drawing crowds lately

AtlasIntel doesn't seem like solid info tbh, they are outside the zone of acceptability which i've marked in red below.

Still mad that Trump beat Biden and all of a sudden everything shuts down and Biden wins, Jealous🤣🤣

Basing the Electoral College on state populations make perfect sense to me. Just like Australian electorates are based on population numbers.

Australia has many examples of the same type of flaw both for federal and state elections whereby someone who gets the most votes doesn't win.
Australian electorates are for local members, it makes sense to create/adjust them based on population. And then the constituents of that electorate vote for that member, and then after preferences, the candidate with the most votes always wins.

The US already has this for House elections, though without preferences / ranked choice, outside of a few states i.e. Maine, Alaska and Hawaii.

We have no national office to vote for like that of the President. A national office has the nation as its constituency, therefore a national vote is the most logical way to decide who represents the nation. Having a preferential system would be ideal, but a direct popular vote tally or run-offs would also be better and more democratic than the electoral college.

The "protections" granted to smaller states in Senate "seats", both there and here, afford considerable challenges to bigger states holding sway already. As we can see from the regular battleground states, some states now have a disproportional national value to each vote because of the electoral college.

In Chicago the last few days it is alot quieter here than I thought it would be. Speaking to alot of people here they are all saying alot of people are keeping their opinions to themselves compared to four years ago.

In downtown Chicago they had a pre-polling place that lined up around the block.

More empty rhetoric from Liar-in-Chief to amp up his crowd for what's to come if and when they lose

Can see the pending court cases if they lose:

Attorney for the Republicans/Trump: "We challenge the results because we actually won all 7 battleground states very easily by huge margins, the biggest numbers ever seen."

Judge: "How so"

Attorney for the Republicans/Trump: "Polling showed all this to be the case"

Judge: "What polls?"

Attorney for the Republicans/Trump: "Does the figment of the imagination of Donald Trump count as evidence?"

Trump: I saw it on Television

Judge: Case closed

TBF I think a lot of local commissions have been caught completely offguard by the amount of early voters.
Last time there was covid and trump rubbished early voting
No covid and trump encouraged early voting
Did some states cut funding , not expecting such a demand? 75 m early voting so far.

That was part of the compromise by the Founding Fathers. The Senate gave parity to smaller states which didn't want get bullied by the big boys every time. The House is for the large states which didn't want a tyranny by a minority. It might even have been called the Great Compromise (talking nearly a half century ago :))

Don't know about any recent changes, but they may have had to cut down due to losing many volunteers due to intimidation by the GOPMaggots.

Trump now wants to put Hershel Walker in charge of Space Force,
I did laugh during Hershel and speech saying vote for Trump Jr at the GA Rally.

CTE is real.

I wonder if the Australian election thread next year will be as popular as this thread You know, the one the posters on here will actually be eligable to vote in and have much more direct affect on their lives?

There's a board called "Australian Politics". Pretty active all the time, and especially with each federal election. Respective state elections get a good run too.

You know, it's not hard to find...

I want to see videos of people burning Indiana Jones DVDs and blurays in response to this.

I wonder if there are MAGa cultists who decide to not consume any popular culture from anyone who endorses the Dems. Would really narrow down what they consume.

They still have Rob Schneider's wonderful body of work to consume.

Yeah I know where it is but I doubt it will have anywhere near this amount of posts as in this thread, despite its more direct relevance to BF poster's lives.

I will be there for the Vic and Aus elections. I could go into detail how this one in the US will have much further reaching consequences worldwide, but you may already be aware, or disagree.
