Its great you live your socialist ideal

Can you provide some idea of what you do to achieve this and can you lend me a fiddy

I don't always live a socialist ideal dude, it's not possible.

I have to work within the framework that is administered.

I disagree with that framework, many times, but I haven't the agency of a Musk or a Bezos.

But that doesn't alter my position - people, generally, understand when they have sufficient and that they don't require more.

They understand that wants aren't the same as needs.

Let me give an easy example....

In Phon Charoen, the village has ONE rice harvesting machine. Everyone there harvests rice, annually, to feed their family and if they have excess they sell it.

Papa (my father-in-law) would LOVE his own harvester, But even when I offered to buy one, he said no.

Why?

Because they share. Each family hires the harvester for a day, to harvest their rice. They hire it from the local dude who owns the only harvester.

Same with chainsaws, or augers, or any heavy machinery.

Tranpose that to Aus.....

"No, I want to harvest it when I want to, so I'll buy my own and use it for 1 day each year"

Papa said to me that the man who bought the harvester paid alot of money and he needs everyone in the village to hire it at harvest time to make the repayments....and that it was better for the community to just leave it like that. Was it a big problem, taking our turn? No, not at all. Everyone was happy, it was figured out communally and had been that way for almost 2 decades before I entered the equation.

Can you see the difference?

Our WANTS have become our NEEDS.

And those things aren't related.

Nah it's more of a hyperbolic way of saying that you're doing a really bad job of giving lessons on morality and civil discourse.

I'm not here to give lessons dude.

I'm just speaking my stuff. Whether people agree or disagree isn't relevant, didn't you get the memo?

Peace.

At the same time, they provide the political cover for the Biden Administration and Harris, promoting the noxiious lie that somehow the Democrats can be pressured to adopt a "more compassionate" line, even as they keep funnelling weaponry to Netanyahu.
I'm not sure there's been much praise or expectation of any improvement on here in relation to the Democrats position on Gaza on here. Find one US President (Democrat or Republican) in the better part of the last century whose foreign policy could not be reasonably evaluated as manifestly evil. It's effectively a moot point come election time.

On the genocide, are you not at all concerned by Trump giving Netanyahu his blessing to 'do what you have to do'? I don't hold particularly high hopes for either candidate adopting a non-evil position, but that sort of rhetoric is particularly frightening. Not to mention his particularly despicable position on the Ukraine war.

Equates to 607,000 not voting for Trump in these 7 cities

Now as they are spread out it makes it difficult to make a change but it would be sending shivers up Republican spines

Tony Hinchcliffe quietly googling "24-hour armed protection" on seeing this.

Of course. This just proves what I am saying, that there is no real difference between Trump and Harris. They both agree with genocide in Gaza and war against Iran.

As for the war in Ukraine, this was a war provoked by US/NATO imperialism with the aim of using Ukrainian cannon fodder to carry out a war against Russia.

This war has absolutely nothing to do with "freedom and democracy" in Ukraine. It is about using the Ukrainain military as a proxy in a war against Russia.

The invasion of Ukraine by Russia was criminal. Putin carried out to try to defend the interests of Russian capitalists against the predatory interests of the US/NATO imperialists.

Trump's does not fundamentally oppose the war against Russia. He simply believes that China, not Russia, should be the target of US aggession. So Trump's propaganda that he will "end the war in Ukraine" is designed to appeal to voters by suggesting that somehow he is "antiwar"

Nothing could be further from the truth. Trump's immediate foreign policy moves, should he gain political power, will be aimed at redeploying US military resources against China, as well as implementing trade war against China.

Why would a president attack China when they have done nothing wrong and be sympathetic to Russia when they have invaded a sovereign country?
You're all mixed up in the head pal.

I think you’re an accelerationist to speed up the process of the destruction of the world and Trump is the better vehicle for that purpose.

If it happens I hope something better does take the place,I fear that it might be after some sort of large scale war that goes nuclear and world population goes down to 1-2 billion in such a doomsday scenario.

I don’t believe any of that, I still think we can get things on a better track by keeping trump out of power.

The idea the Dems will begin a police state locking up everyone does seem rather far fetched. You can quote me on this if/when it occurs.
I don't know how many times I have to repeat this ( and I have already replied to another post of yours in exactly the same manner) but both Trump and Harris are equal agents of destruction for the working class
The Democrats have arrested pro Palestine demonstrators and sent police in to shoot pro Palestine in uni students with rubber bullets.
Why do you think it is "far fetched' to think that they will resort to police state measures against widespread social opposition?

If you are unaware of the US war preparations against China then you seriously need to improve your knowledge of contemporary global politics

Sigh. In nearly every disagreement on politics, anyone can find an example to support their biased viewpoint.

The US has been beholden to the very strong pro-Israel lobby for decades, indeed probably since 1947. This applies to both sides and is not a point of differentiation between the parties.

So, if you want to pedantically focus on one aspect of foreign policy, then there is little between the two.

It just means you must wilfully ignore all of the true differences such as the desire and ability to actually do the job of governing, having actual policies in relation to public welfare in a broad sense (even if they're inadequate, because inadequate > 0), recognition of the human rights of immigrants and refugees, and of course, the fascism (Project 2025, anyone?). And the pettiness that will manifest in going after political enemies and personal critics. Oh, and ignoring the rule of law.

Other than that ...

Harris with slim lead in Pennsylvania
The UMass poll showed Harris with a slim one-percentage-point lead over Trump in the key state of Pennsylvania.

The survey of 800 likely voters was conducted Oct. 16-23, showing Harris leading Trump 48%-47%. The lead was well within the poll's margin of error (3.73 percentage points).
Basically its a coin flip

Why not just tell us your position then rather than being evasive at every turn.

Are you happy with Dick Cheey's endirsement?
I don't really care. It does not matter to me beyond a quirky fact.

Democrats behind in Florida - which highlights the above coverage by PR

But they have increased their 2020 Florida vote by 1.3% if I read it right

Careful, you're starting to sound like Christopher Bouzy.

If you are unaware, he is an influencer who has convinced himself that Florida is definitely going blue. And he has been beating that drum for almost a year I reckon.

Why on earth would you start a war with China. Even if Hawks have contingencies, it's stupid and a right wing wank.
It's probably spin on the US military upgrades its installations in the region. They are making a second ring of defenses in case China takes out Okinawa or Philippine bases.

Johnson talking about getting rid of the CHIPS act, wow! This is the single worst week for a candidate in a long time:

  • holds a rally full of racism and misogyny
  • dresses up like an oompa-loompa and stumbles around like a drunk
  • Close personal connection with child-rapist Epstein proven
  • Millions of young voters for the first time hearing, and being appalled by, the access Hollywood tapes
  • republicans talking about getting rid of popular policies
  • EV numbers looking awful for Trump

Facepalm after facepalm after facepalm.

What do the Republicans do now Trump is cooked?

What do the Republicans do now Trump is cooked? The good ones breathe a sigh of relief. The other ones aren't worth caring about.

Our WANTS have become our NEEDS.

And those things aren't related.

I think in aus we were a wealthy country.

And then decided rather than spending our $$ and time on hobbies / holidays to have a nicer house as that’s where most people spend their time.

And then kept outbidding each other for houses.

Now wants (better place) have put needs shelter into working a lot longer for next generations.
And having less relaxing time. And delaying retirement age. Both parents need to work etc. harder for singles to buy property.

Then result of this is people have most of their wealth tied to their house.

Which is also encouraged by Centrelink
As could have a 500,000 house and 1,000,000 in assets and not receive any age pension.

Or have a 1,200,000 house and 300,000 in assets and get a full age pension. And exempt future capital gains on house when transfer inheritance.

So there’s no real incentive to down size as could lose/ reduce pension.

That means there’s less properties on the market as people are less likely to trade up houses. End up with families unable to buy bigger houses and stuck in one they purchased when had less needs.

Then you also add in govt costs of transferring ownership stamp duties on new purchases properties also makes it less desirable to down size.

Govt and universities driving student immigration also put strains on rental market and effective helped push house prices up too.
