Carroll I would offer a VFL contract to because I don't see him impacting at AFL level or being poached from us in the MSD. I'd be leaving at least one spot for the MSD.

I am/was open to keeping him too. But this rookie pick might suggest not. Cow, Billy, him and now Charleson recently suggests something is gonna give. Suggests Carroll is in trouble to me.

Apparently he's open to playing reserves, so maybe he might have to take that option, make up for missing a season, prove his fitness and develop there.

I'd have McMahon and DGB favorites i think.

Or there was no one there we rated outside the picks we needed to use to get Smith, O'Farrell, Camporeale and Camporeale. Our small forwards are really going to need to perform because this is where our next mini-rebuild is coming from IMO.

I think Motlop was preparing for a very good year until his untimely preseason injury. Durdin had some talent and is a hard worker. Not sure that’s enough - needs to surpass Fogarty this year.

Not a bull. Comparisons with the likes of Butters, or maybe Nick Daicos (not as good a kick, but better inside).

I hit more than I miss, and when I miss it's usually something that would be picked up in a background check or a medical screening, and I ain't got time for either of those.

Very pleased with how the drafts played out. Jagga is the best performed player of this cohort - agile, quick, clean in disposal and the ball seems to follow him. HOF bolsters our key position depth for the future which we need. The Campo boys will be bargains given what we paid for them. Charleson adds more speed and skills to the list. Big tick for Austin and his team.

If you watch the highlights, Austin explains them to Voss, who likes 'em... They are compressed pellets of Ovaltine, a Milo like drink power. They're quite tasty although a little dry

It was a seriously amazing outcome for the club to snag a player like Jagga whilst being a finals team in flag contention. By far the best performed player in his draft year and could be a generational player.

So many things needed to happen to get to that point which was meticulously planned by the list management team:
-Let Houston go to a rival despite him wanting Carlton and overruling Voss
-Found a willing seller (Hawthorn) to gain a second 2024 1st round pick. Many teams were trying to buy back in at the same time and later on.
-Struck early and took advantage of the Eagles’ desperation to get to Pick 3
-Held firm and took Jagga, the right choice IMO

We saved huge coin for the next 3 years (Houston v Jagga) and picked up a longer term player, in a more influential field position and likely to have a better career, potentially moving the needle significantly in our premiership window whilst freeing up cash for TDK and others.

Also compare the deal we got to get pick 14 and eventually pick 3 vs the huge premium required to get back in closer to the draft. North paid huge overs (despite their future first being so much more valuable than ours) and other clubs couldn’t afford to get back in. Saints found themselves just outside the premium picks with no way to trade up.

Not since SOS in 2015 have we seen such creativity to secure premium draft capital. And this time we didn’t have to lose any players of note to do it.
