If North finish 11th next year and Richmond last, the points on this one are even. If they finish 17th, it's the equivalent of giving away Pick 22. We all know that a top 5 pick is worth a lot more than the points difference though.

TBH if they rate him more highly than Shanahan then I think it’s a good trade.
If it was for pick 10 and Richmond’s future second and they took Shanahan I don’t think people would think it’s a bad move so from where I sit they done the right thing.

It's not Shanahan though

It's not even the more highly rated Whitlock

They've gone with another tweener who can play forward and back so there's less risk on his future but you see these types fail every year.

They've tried to hedge their bets and paid aassive amount to do so.

Good move by North
I tend to agree. Got the gun mid and needed a tall. Won’t be as bad as some are thinking, and Tiger’s F2 almost certain to be the first of the round. Prefer swingman Matt to his brother. Bold, not necessarily as bad as many think.

I have the Roos finishing in 12th or 13th next season (pick 6 or 7) with a Gold Coast Suns type season. Where would that put this trade if Richmond spoon?

Sooner or later you have to say that we are on our way and we don't care about high draft picks.
Not when you’re in the bottom three. They needed to keep adding elite talent until they actually have proof that they’re on the way up.

We have pick 13 on day 2 (40 overall).

Still on the board:

Shanahan
J Whitlock
Gross
Alger
Moraes
Dodson
Davis
Sims
Ough
Clarke
Mraz
Dolan
O'Farrell
Nicholls
Gerreyn
Barrat
Dennis

B Camporeale
L Camporeale

Think both Shanahan and Whitlock will be gone, I'd be happy with Barrat

Agree.

Last year they were competitive almost every week. Lots of blow outs this year especially early.

As much as they should improve a bit so too will most clubs.

Overly confident if they think they're finals bound. Gone a bit early on the hope a bit like er did from say 2019 to 2021.

no it’s someone they rate more highly then them, that’s the point.
You can argue they rated them wrong but for them it still makes sense.

You are right, It’s just like the Stocker and Weddle trades. Look at GWS and Sydney’s picks, they could’ve had Norths pick yet rated their bolters more highly. That seems more crazy to me

Shanahan will not fall to our pick 40.

Really can't see * passing on him if he slides that far. They have 2 picks ahead of us as it stands.

How do we know that trade was on the table for either of them?

This seems very centred around Richmond's F2.

Wouldn't be surprised if other clubs commented and said they'd have offered more if they knew about it. It's happened before.

Is there any way we can move up from pick 40 and still get Ben and Lucas? Can we trade one of our future 2nds?

Would love for us to move up to get Shanahan if it’s possible
