Burgiel i read in a recent article is training on at WCE over the preseason after talks with new coach Andrew McQualter, they’re giving him a chance after his first 2 seasons were wiped out by injuries…

appears so - noone at this stage willing to do the over the top deal to pry 2 away form them. COudl still happen tomorrow i suppose

It was only really ever viable if they had fallen in love with Tauru and were going to take him no matter what so they could afford to slide for minimal return.
Offers were not going to be anywhere good enough if they were seriously considering others at 2.

Going into the draft there are 3 elements of our midfield that I’m looking help address.
1. Speed
2. Ball use
3. Footy IQ
Good news is that Jagga has the best combination of these 3 elements. I think footy IQ is severely underrated and can more than make up for any relative deficiencies in ball use and speed.
While he may not test quick in a 20m sprint, because Jagga has high footy IQ and great game sense, he’s generally a step ahead of his opponent so plays quick. He also has great agility and lateral movement so is able to generate enough space to then spread/move the ball to the advantage of a teammate, creating ball speed that way. He also has a tendency to lower his eyes and hit up the leading target - a philosophy our team hasn’t quite mastered.
Finally, he brings a level of intensity to his play that creates an additional level of dynamism.

I've kept my thoughts to myself and any mail I've had as well. But let's put some thoughts/mail out there and stir the hornets' nest.
This is NOT a super draft, the top end has a strong average of B+ players.
FOS is the only player in the top 5 who can 'change a game' consistently.
We get blinded by the bright lights, but it would be wise to look around the other club's draft threads to get a look at their thoughts.
We can only hope that NM pick for needs in Alix and not on talent.
Jagga certainly comes with a very clean bill of health if we nab him. I don't know how much that would influence the decision, but it can't hurt. He doesn't seem like the injury type.
At 38 with the KPD decision, that might also be a consideration. O'Farrell seems a bit brittle. Dennis has foot issues. Mraz has foot issues.
We, as much as anyone, might favour the value of 23 games a year instead of maybe 14.
Things are largely unpredictable though, which is why drafts and careers are largely unpredictable too.
Looking forward to each 70 odd picks. Absolutely anything can happen outside Pick 1.

Imo, this certainly IS a Superdraft.
It is the best standard, along with the 2018 crop, that i've seen since following U18 in 2011.
Top 5 players are all Top 2 worthy.
Very deep 2nd and 3rd tiers. Quality players of all types and positions right thru to 60.

On Winder vs Burgiel
Both were cut relatively early with Burgiel taken in the 2nd round if i recall, were they cut due to off field issues and if so, which one is you had to choose, do you think has a better chance of sorting themselves out and making the grade?
I’d like to give McMahon a go but id like to see him focus on a single position, also think we need to add another mature age defender, so id leave out one of the rookie options.
If something close to what you’ve suggested, id be pretty happy with the clubs strategy
