Is there not the option of having one less senior spot and an extra rookie? We could be just keeping our options open.

Yeah those machinations are all a bit beyond me…..just seemed with the Pink move we are creating more space than we currently had. So something is planned, or could be an insurance policy for flexibility on the night too IMG_0033.gif

Yeh or room for a DFA or Rookies from Werribee. Theres many scenarios than just the draft. I bet if the deal isn’t good enough we’ll take a player with pick 2.

Im also coming round to the idea of doing so as an insurance policy for LDU. If LDU leaves then we have a player like Lalor ready to go and then use next years picks to either bring in a KPP in a trade

Good list management hopefully. Flexibility on the night incase there are trade(s) we like.

There is no downsize moving Pink to the rookie list. He isn't lasting beyond 2025 so being a DFA for the rest of his career means nothing to us.

Hopefully we take the best player on out list at 2. Mid or KP is fine with me. FOS is number 1 imo. He would fit nicely with what we already have.

FOS 2024 wasn’t awesome.. should that be a concern?

I’m sticking to the theory the list management “brains trust” have a strong sense LDU will be going next year so we will have a first round compo pick for him so trading ours won’t be such a big deal 😬
I'm pretty confident that if Luke truly wants out - the trade period would have been a buzz with rumours conveniently leaked by his team.

The silence was deafening.

If we needed a midfielder we would. 100%.

Tigers need an accumulator for a mid, they’ll take Jagga. They ultimately want Lalor too.. we have more control in this than people suggest.

He Man Power GIF
Agree, if they stay with only 1 and 6 they need to pick Smith at 1. As good as Lalor looks he has man child possibilities and could be an average plodder like Hopper. That's why they will be desperate for pick 2 despite the narrative they are happy to stay with pick 1 and 6.

Led by Richmond nuffies in the media. It's as if they are front-running stories...

Only the very naive would believe that shit!

We're being worked against by multiple angles, it's our reality until we change the narrative a bit on field. We kinda did in the 2nd half of the year until the last few games but we are coming from a long way back.

So we don’t draft a key position player because they might take 2-3 years, but we should also hold next years first who will likely take 2-3 years also?
That really doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.
Do we say the same thing next year & draft another midfielder with our first pick because we don’t want to wait?
We can’t continue to neglect drafting key position players.
I’m happy to hold pick 2 & draft a gun mid, but we should then be looking to move next years pick to draft a key position player this year.
Sure, we can hold out for a gun FA key position player, but there isn’t a whole heap up of those up for grabs every year.
We drafted three? Key position players last year in Dawson, Goad and Maley. They take time and we shall see if they are good in a few years. I do agree if we take a midfielder with 2 then we should try use the F2 in the late 20’s or 30’s to grab one of the many talls, but the narrative that we keep neglecting talls is a year out of date…it’s just we haven’t seen if they’ll be good enough yet.

1 a CHB, the other a rake that will take 4 years to have the body and the other was as speculative as you could find (but with great marking capability).

You must have a weird idea of what a balanced list looks like (and the type of draft investment in KPF needed) if you think North can all of a sudden go back to actively ignoring high end KPF talent.

I’m not sure where I said we should ignore KPF talent? All I said was that the narrative we have ignored talls is a year out of date. We grabbed three. We will probably grab a couple this year if a fair trade is organised. If clubs try and take us for fools we still will grab 1 using a F1 or F2. I’d personally prefer to hold off for the later selection as all the talls are speculative and in this draft there are no sure things imo. If you have a different opinion on the likely first round keys over the Gerryn’s etc then that’s all good.

If Tigers pick Jagga then we pick Draper at #2

Our pick #2 needs to be put on hold until we and trade out our F1st first...Then and only then do we start looking at trading our pick#2 but l would still like to keep it ....

Adelaides Pick#4 is the sweet spot for our pick #2 but they dont have anything to pair it with at the moment but who knows what will happen if they really want Draper.
Melbourne Pick #5 would be a consideration but seeing as they have gotten Pick#9 l cant see them giving both of them for Pick #2 unless we could sweeten the deal with something else coming back.
Tigers have #6, #10, #11 and #18 but will be playing hard ball so stuff them.
St Kilda have #7 and # 8 but thats to far back if we are after something closer which Brady has stated he will only go back a few spots..

GWS pick #15 and #16 for our F1st would be nice to start with or maybe #15 and #21 so l hope Brady can get it done otherwise we will need to deal with the Tigers..

Contact injuries wrecked him this yr, I reckon he would be pick 1 if he weren't so injury prone.

It does beg the question, if FOS gets contact injuries against 17yr olds, how will he fare against AFL players?

7(8),8(10),32(45),2025R1 for 2,62(52), 2025 R2(20) + 2025 R3(40) could work for me.

Leaves us with 7,8,32.

and 2025 R1(NMFC) + 2025 R1(StK) = Sharp/Ludowycke.

They basically get their choice of midfielder, we get Tauru/Smilie + Armstrong and perhaps GUnit should he slide.

For the points people...

Read somewhere he was the anti-JHF.
There's also the possibility of putting 3R1's on the table in terms of our asking price, this time. We should at least select him and see what Adelaide offer to have him, if it happens to be 4,2025R1 for access to Draper + 2025 R2 then accept it and pick The Viking. We're still in control and can trade down further if we want/have more open spots.

Contact injuries... that took all season to recover from.

He didn't fire a single shot all season.
