Collingwood 2023, Dees - 2021, Dogs 2016

Tiges in 2017 won it without a big forward at all - it was Riewoldt with a medium alongside him.

Extend the dates a bit and 2009-2011 didn't have a gun KPF.

Like guns in every other position, gun KPFs help, but I don't think they're as important as a gun KPD and gun mids.

Yup forgot Dees. 3/11.

Jack Reiwoldt is a gun kpf could play deep forward traditional lead up ff and also as a roaming CHF. He just isn't a uber tall.

Extend the dates and you get a lot up to your 3 year period which imo cloke falls into as a gun chf but not as a colemen competer in 2010.
However in 2010 we had Cloke take 100 marks 78 shots on goal as a CHF, 2011 Cloke played deeper and kicked 69.48.
2011 Geelong had quality kpfs but they weren't big scoreboard impacters at the time so another for your list.

Gun mids are number 1. Good spine number 2.
Quality KPF and KPD equally important imo.

What do folks here think of Floyd Burmeister? I just read his draft profile & then watched his video highlights. He looks promising to me as he is certainly tall enough but is also quite athletic.

I think the pies have identified they want physical key position players who can crash packs and create a contest. We might steer clear of the Burmeister types

This is a terrible draft for Collingwood and definitely the most likely to be accurate.
I wouldn't even bother contemplating them. So many of the names are the same in those drafts that they just look like group think - with everyone essentially copying the one or two posters who might actually have a strong knowledge of this draft cohort.

I think most of our picks will be borderline rookie draft players. Not saying it’s a bad thing, hopefully some high upside players who are a bit raw.

We might get one slider but also if you look at the last couple of sliders - Archie Roberts, Ollie Murphy, Arlo Draper look good but sometimes we all understand why they slide in hindsight.

It's not about the names, it's about the types. Going for three midfielders is a ridiculous strategy at this point. At least one of the picks needs to be a tall. Even a medium defender is far more of a need.

Probably not worth stressing about phantoms done by nuffs on other club boards

I hope we get a couple of likely talls too, but my view is more along the lines of anyone who makes it drafted at that range is a win - regardless of position. The last thing any team needs is shit talls.

I'd be happy with Luke Kennedy and West. Hopefully we can get the crime novelist as well

Yes at late 40s and early 50s just getting a 100 gamer is a big win.

Would be great to pick one out the box but shouldn't be the expectation.

It's the most unexcited I've been for a draft, pretty much zero expectations.

Disagree. The last thing any team any team needs is mediocre 180-185cm flankers with no hurt factor in their game, but Derek Hine loves to load up on them every year.

These picks are all speculative and anyone turning out good would be a miracle... Could we at least have the potential miracle be in the right height demographic?

It's not such a miracle needed. 1 in 3 blokes picked between 30-50 play 100 games. So we should be hoping to get one decent senior player from this draft haul.

And even if they may not technically be in that range yet - you can think of them like that considering it's considered a deeper draft than normal and they'll come in a bit.

The way I see it, we're old and need to add players in most positions over the next 3 years - which is when you'd hope these kids begin coming through. Just get us a couple of future good ones, Dekka, if they're tall that's an extra bonus. But if the recruiters see a big gap between the tall and small prospects, they should go with the higher rated ones. Not doing so would be silly.
