When Mclaren caught up to RB, Verstappen resorted to his cheap shot thug driving. I wouldn't be so quick with the smart-arse comments if I were him.
And yet he still outscored them.

While Mclaren were left to resort to cheap shots and never ending Norris and Brown whingefests.

If anything Max showed this year just how big the gap is between him and everyone else.

So yeah he can say what he likes.

If wiki is right. Verstappen led Norris by 69pts after the Spanish GP, which was the end of his dominant run. He now leads Norris by 63pts.

The Austrian GP was the next race after Spain, where Verstappen returned to his dangerous thug driving, having been challenged for the win by Norris, the first time he'd been genuinely threatened for a win. Verstappen benefited from the points gained over Norris, more than if he'd won and Norris finished 2nd.

No champion does. Look at how past champions reacted (and what they did) when challenged. Max's actions were on the lower end of the scale.
Sure - I still don't know how anyone is arguing he didn't actively try and steer Lando off the track multiple times, at multiple locations.

Max was always touted as this great wheel to wheel racer - I don't believe that's true in the slightest. But to be fair, I don't think most of them are nowadays due to the nature of F1. It's overtaking using DRS rather than wheel to wheel racing through multiple sectors etc.

100% this.

Wheel to wheel combat just doesnt happen a lot these days. Max is an intimidator for sure, but you dont get to where he is without being a great wheel to wheel racer. The other guys need to play a role too, if WE all know what Max is going to do into a corner, then why do the others, mostly Lando, still allow it to happen ??

Allow it to happen? How exactly do you stop a guy spearing you off the track? You could sit behind him all day but that defeats the whole purpose of racing.

Mexico was the perfect example of why they still do it - it was just finally the FIA handed down a punishment for it.

Ridiculous.

You never saw Senna, Prost, Mansell, even later on Hakkinen, JPM and early Alonso be intimidated like these guys are today. They stood their ground and said "if youre going to try that then I will have you off". And it wasnt the FIA, it was the chief English cheerleader Herbert who penalised him.

Max is just better, not just at driving the car, but the mental aspect of the sport. He's got almost everyone beaten before they start.
