Listening to SEN the other day, a caller rang in about the Odin injury. Claimed her daughter was in the vicinity when it happened. Trampoline injury.

Probably not the smartest move considering his size and footy future, but I can totally relate and would probably do the same thing, we are invincible at that age or so we thought.

Speaking of Odin Jones, I was on a local news web site the other day.Guess which one.
A photo of Odin Jones along with a heading, something like, strange or unusual injury.Thinking that the story would tell me something about the Odin story, I began reading,
Smashed me in the face, WTF do you think they wrote about!!!!!

FFS this post reads like a Scooby Doo mystery.

Listening to the restump guys the other day and they casually assumed that Darcy wouldn't be there round 1.. Did I miss something on that? Wasn't he back on legs 6-8 weeks after his August arthroscope?

It's hardly surprising really.

Fremantle ruckman Sean Darcy being eased back from knee surgery while Luke Jackson has interrupted off-season

Fremantle have promised to take a conservative approach to ruckman Sean Darcy’s recovery from knee surgery, with the star not expected to enter main training until after Christmas and no certainty to be available for round one.
Darcy missed the last three games of the season, then had knee surgery and the Doig medallist was training by himself when the full squad returned on Monday.
Fremantle footy boss Joe Brierty said Darcy’s history of knee problems meant they had to do everything possible to ensure this is his last major stint on the sidelines.
“He’s on track with the program that we’ve implemented. It was obviously a significant injury and there’s a few things around Sean’s knee we need to continue to work with,” Brierty explained.
“Surgery was a success. He hasn’t been able to implement the running program at the beginning because that’s obviously a fair way back. It’s the stability that’s a priority.
“We’ve engaged a bio-mechanist who has been assisting us with that program in the gym for Sean. He’s been really diligent with the way that he’s applied himself.
“I feel like we’re on top of it and now it’s about making sure we are consistent with the application to the program that is set. Seany plays a big part in that. We feel like when he’s fit and firing, we are a very formidable force from a midfield perspective.”

The Dockers are so determined to get Darcy healthy that Brierty said they wouldn’t be rushing any part of his recovery just so he could play in round one.
“If he’s not ready to go for round one then we’ll look to work through that. He needs to make sure he can tick every box and be up and going,” Brierty said.
“This is a thing that’s not about the short term. It’s long term and making sure we get the most out of Sean from a career point of view.”
Darcy’s ruck partner Luke Jackson also had an interrupted off-season after having his tonsils removed. Jackson was unable to run following the surgery and laboured through the fitness testing on Monday
Brierty revealed the club had asked Jackson to put on weight during the break which also meant he would take time to re-build his running fitness.
“He’s put on some weight in the off-season and he had his tonsils out so you can’t run for period of time with that. He’s had an interrupted off-season. A big priority for him was to put a few kilos on so it doesn’t surprise me that he was one who was slower to take off (on Monday),” Brierty said.
“He was getting sick during the season. There were a few games where he was unwell. He had some enlarged tonsils and the best action is to remove them so you don’t have to worry about them during the year and he’s not missing games.”
The Dockers officially added Quinton Narkle to list through the pre-season supplemental period on Monday but he trained indoors. Star recruit Shai Bolton will fly to Perth on Wednesday and start training on Friday.
He is a later arrival after remaining in Victoria for the birth of his second child.

I must say the descriptions of Darcy’s knee issue and the extent to which his training has to be modified does not fill me with huge confidence on his prospects of playing another 100 games over the next 5 years or so but I guess we’ll just have to trust the medicos and see what happens.

Has Sean Darcy ever had an uninterrupted preseason?
