How is it that North make a small profit of only $53 mill in revenue, when a club like my own makes only a small and similar profit off over $78 mill in revenue.

It's actually a credit to them that they can run such an efficient operation. It also makes me question what some clubs are doing with their extra $20 mill or so annually.

If you get an extra $7mil in distribution from the AFL, then you don't have any costs to get those $$.

So if you get an extra $10m from game day, corporates, merchandise etc you might only clear $4million from that revenue to spend on other things.

The accountants do their best work the finalise the result to make it ‘sing’!

Essendon has a much larger amortisation charge which takes from its profit. In truth, in terms of the surplus made, Bombers delivered ~$4.1M surplus (Roos ~$1.0M) which better compares the results.

Yeah I get the more revenue means more cost. I think the Essendon venues and pokies bring in 20 mill but cost 14 mill to run, I'm still surprised by the gap though and how much more we must be spending elsewhere, to run a similar sized organisation to the kangaroos.

Have a look at your marketing and membership costs compared to North's. There is a big difference there. Your 2023 accounts say pokies + venue food and beverage sales brought in $14.8m and expenses were $11.8m. You also have the costs associated with running and maintaining 2 venues - North only has 1.

Is it total revenue excluding government grants, financial revenue and other miscellaneous?

column shouldnt actually be there, its the tracking sub for the vic clubs before Norths was released.

Record crowds, record membership and strong on-field performance have combined to put the club in a positive financial position.

That's a terrible result for the swans imo. Record crowds, membership, top of the ladder the whole year and make a miserly profit like that? If they didn't have a top of the table year they would have had significant losses. The revenue is pretty high 73 mill, so not sure what exactly they're doing with all their money.

That's the only thing it could be but it was also what they had against that item 12 months ago.

I suspect the payout might be larger than that

I suspect there would be a revolt if it turned out the club paid out more than $1.5m. That amount was also including lawyer fees.

The Gold Coast SUNS has today finalised its 2024 financial result, with the club posting an underlying profit of $496,084 for the financial year ending in October 2024.

Membership ticketing and match day revenue up 17%. 5th year in a row of membership growth up 12% YOY, overall it’s pretty encouraging.
Some good talent coming out of the academy also.

A few years ago people were saying the Suns should be shut down etc it’s clear now how short sighted that view was.

Hopefully they can have a few years in finals and if that happens honestly the 25,000 capacity stadium will need an upgrade as games will sell out.

This is a terrific result. Without seeing the accounts, strong revenue growth coincides with the games growth and I’m confident the Suns are entering a really exciting and positive era of growth and success.
