I don’t think anyone who matters gives a rats to be honest. I’m sure how many times we have to go over the same ground, it’s a stupid idea with zero benefit to player or club. Anyone up to task doesn’t need it and we have no claim on them.

a stupid idea or not, we committed to it, you can't then get blokes to do a full season, pour everything into it then completely renege on that deal. if you think thats a great way to operate then you're quicky going to piss people off and suddenly your word as an organisation means very ****ing little.

Wow, Brad Crouch picked up as a rookie, Inside ball pig, just what we need.

Hope this shuts people up about us not selecting mids

Without getting a pure mid in the top 10, I don’t think we can say we won the draft

However, we did so well in every other aspect that I’d consider this draft as good as our 2023 haul

I feel like Barrat is going to be underrated. We didn’t think we needed talls so we didn’t talk about him much on here, but he’s a bloody good footballer with a ton of upside given his birthday and injury issues that restricted him last year

So much to get excited about going forward, this team is going to be a joy to watch
We certainly did need talls..we lost a few post season & 3 years ago we lost about 7!

Crouch will be delisted next week with the SANFL ruck Boyd replacing him, deal was done last week.

See you all next year.

Boyd? Really?

I'll back the club but not sure what the plan is at Sandy then. How do we fit Boyd, Heath, Keeler and Dodson in the team all at once? Keeler going to CHB again?

Unless we are going to be giving Heath and Keeler games in the seniors to get working on Ross' two ruck strategy?

Astoundiing turn of events

Saints say they will delist Brad Crouch with the intention to re-rookie at the Rookie Draft

What happens next will floor you - Saints then re-rookie Crouch at the AFL Rookie Draft

Who did a full season based on that announcement ? No one. Who was up to afl standard ? No one. Anyone who’s sandy listed who happens to play well enough to be drafted is available to every club the same as anyone else who nominated.

It’s a non issue and will disappear very quickly imo.

all of them. they made the commitment to the listed players at sandy they would rookie list one.
Oh well too bad, they are all crap. Stupid decision in the first place, but list spots handed out like participation ribbons are a thing of the past.
I love the ruthlessness, admit the whole thing was a mistake and make the decision to say bad luck Sandy players, be better.

I reckon it looks pretty amateur. Fine if it was a bad idea and we don't want to do it but maybe make a statement or something saying we are pulling the pin on the deal. We're trying to build something at Sandy aren't we? Seems we're just burning more bridges.

I understand the commitment to Crouch but am a bit miffed that so many players are just relisted. Not only by Saints.

We have had some absolute beauties come through the rookie draft as has others. All it is now is a list management vehicle.

We need to take a look at as many players as possible. The next Ro or Milne could be there.

Was it Pierce who ended up playing for the Dolphins while he was on the Saints list ?

You make a bet with someone , shake hands and they don't pay up because there is no legal contract and it was a stupid bet.

Some of the comments here tell me more about the poster's integrity than anything else.

why do you think this: "Who did a full season based on that announcement ?" did you ask each individual player?

color me shocked the rest happened. i mean who could have seen that would be the case? when was the time a senior player was drafted from the zebs?

we made the commitment. no one forced us to do it.

What? List lodgements are done, no more delisting possible. Do you mean Crouch to the LTI?

Yeah but he won't be delisted. If he can't overcome his knee issues he will retire. Big difference.

So as long as he does it before the end of the SSP in February we will have time to fill the list vacancy.

Lets say he retires in mid January, then we can have two players do the SSP training for a month before deciding which one will fill the vacant list spot.

If it happened after that then I think we have to wait till the Mid Season draft to fill the list vacancy.

there's being ruthless and then there's being unreliable/untrust worthy. i don't think its ruthless. it's just poor management.

imagine a world where someone's **** up is then spun as being ruthless.

me: "i'll be in tomorrow boss"
boss: "ok"
next day
me: "sorry won't be today. i should never have said that."
boss: "I love the ruthlessness, admit the whole thing was a mistake and make the decision to say bad luck"

Peckett I would think

We filled a few areas of need like developing ruck (Dodson) and another small forward/pinch hit mid

Re Dodson - he will take time like all young rucks... a solid development year coming up in tandem with Moose at Sandy

I was one that thought Travaglia was a reach at 7 but at worst he will be a great Webster/Paton replacement down back with his ability to play on small/medium forwards & also provide a line breaking & link up run alternative to NAS out of the backline

I am still have reservations about his long term ability to go full time mid as there may always be better pure mid players in our squad but he could very well find himself on a wing opposite Wilson which could be pretty special given the running power both have.

Barratt if he puts on more size and strength could be our future full back ... currently 194cm .... tough & aggressive with a touch of mongrel .... no one says no to that

Tauru & Barratt both have experience at either end of the ground so nice to have some versatility going forward though you would expect both to find their permanent happy postion as Battle did

Boxshall has some great running qualities but is a harder read .... he will probably need to spend some time in the 2nds

What I do love about all our draftees is that they are all fantastic overhead ..... all one grabbers and strong in the air ..... very under rated skill ... and none seem to take a backward step in a contested situation ..... all love the contest ..... no vanilla
Check out Boxhall highlights on YouTube…took one of the most courageous marks you’ll see
