I did alright in week 1, but regretting picking 2 Bullets players. Zikarsky and Prather feel like good value but not sure it's worth missing the points. No double headers til round 9.

For the benefit of those who haven't played before, how do the value changes work?

Players will increase or decrease after 3 games but how does it work specifically?

Are you asking whether players with a DGW increase in price after next week? If so, the answer is yes.

And NZ players don't increase in price until R5, I think.

Yes, I understand value starts changing once they've played 3 games- this could be up or down

I'm asking how is it calculated? Is it a 3 game moving average? A 5-game moving average? etc

Example. Lets say SC values are based on 1 point per $10k. Player starts the season with their price set at, say $200k. based on an expected Score (or prior year score) of 20 per game.

They score 30, 30, 30 over the first 3 games.

Does their price jump to $300k after the 3rd game? (3 game moving average)

Or is the price, say $260k? Based on 5 game moving average. 30, 30, 30, 20, 20 (20 being assumed scores or prior year scores etc)

A related question- is there a limit on the increase in 1 week? I was googling this and found an old BigFooty thread for AFL supercoach. And it mentioned this.

So, for example, a player starts with a really low price- $69k. They score really well over their first 3 games. 40 points a game. Lets say 40 points a game is worth approx $400k. Would their price jump from $69k to $400k in one week? Or is there a maximum jump?

One of the other guys might know better, but I think it's based on a 3-game rolling average.

A 69k player's price won't jump from 69k straight to 400k after three games of averaging 40. Rather, it will increase in increments towards 400k. Might take five rounds to get there. I'm not sure, just guessing.

I've started a spreadsheet to track this

Will post results in coming weeks.

Another question.

Can trades be saved up?

So if I don't trade for 5 weeks can I do 10 trades in a single week?

No. I wish you could do that though.

Just came on to post that Jack White is sucking hard after smashing the preseason. Ridiculously poor.

Thanks for clarifying

Don't agree on White- he's beating break even. 19 and 23 points so far isn't too bad for someone costing $232k. I reckon he'll eventually be typically in the 25-35 range as he'll get extra points from blocks and steals that he's missed so far. With United's heavy early schedule I'm happy keeping him.

I think atavistic posted that when white was on 0 at halftime. Given how he finished the game I think he may have changed tune. Hopefully can hit 25-30+ next game

Yeah, was looking grim but if he can out up 20 in one quarter he is a player I want. At least in the short term
I think with United, they're a deep team with a coach who shares the minutes around. They'll have different players scoring highly each game. Especially amongst their guards. Delly has been amazing and CG caught fire last night. But I wouldn't expect Delly to keep this up

White will be one of their leaders in minutes played- he should play 27- 28 minutes a game or more, and he'll be consistently racking up solid stats. At $232k it was a no-brainer selection for me, given they play double headers in 5 of the first 8 rounds

I'm considering Magnay, Waardenburg and Armstrong (if he's back this week).

Cairns have doubles 3 of next 4. JJ's 4 of next 6.

Days, Oliver & Walton Jr > Magnay, Harrell & Vasiljevic

Ideally i wouldve held Oliver but i needed the extra cash to get those 2 Adelaide players in. 6 with the double this round. Id like to have chosen a Cairns player but getting Harrell and Magnay took priority and i had the cash for Vasiljevic so he is in. Hoping Ili redeems himself

I've got 4 starters and 2 bench players with doubles this week, which is as good as anyone could hope for without using a trade boost.

Traded out Hurt who's performed well and value increased by $30k, but couldn't keep him with singles the next 3 weeks.

I'd like to get rid of Walton Jr as I'm worried his value falls even further, but couldn't fit that trade in. Hopefully he performs well against Adelaide and Davis- both who are already known as poor defenders! Adams and Edwards have torched 36ers with Kings/Taipans scoring 100+, so should be a good opportunity for Walton to find form.

Am I mad to boost and move Oliver to Waardenberg? Full team of doubles and hopefully some good cash gen from Sam in the next 2 weeks.

It's worth thinking about but I like Oliver for next round. I decided it's not worth a boost to get wardenberg in, obviously each situation is unique but I don't see wardenberg as a must have despite his first two games. Good value for sure but not worth a boost in my situation, mainly because I want to hold a boost for next round so I have a chance of grabbing Adams. I probably lose that chance if I grab wardenberg.

Good luck with whatever call you make!
