When thread is opened: Own player bidding starts (likely 6pm Saturday October 5)
6pm Saturday October 12: Opposition player and free agent bidding starts, all bids inactive, no limits on which and how many uncontracted players you can bid on
6pm Thursday October 17: Trading starts, all leading inactive opposition player and free agent bids become active
6pm Tuesday November 19: Trading, opposition player and free agent bidding closes
8pm Saturday November 23: Own player bidding closes (i.e. you have to have met the requirements below)
9am Sunday November 24: National Draft starts (picks can be passed for PSD). Live pick trading commences.
Immediately following National Draft draft: Live pick trading concludes. Pre-season Draft Starts (picks can be passed for Supplementary Selection Draft)
Immediately following Pre-Season Draft: Rookie draft starts (picks can be passed for Supplementary Rookie Selection Draft)

What you need at the end
A senior list of exactly 40, including:
- All listed contracted players
- At least 3* National Draft picks
In addition to this, you may also have 0 to 6 contracted rookie players on your list.
Total player payments less than or equal to $16,000,000 including all senior listed players, delisted contracted players and rookie listed players.
Bidding
Each club has two active bids slots to use. There is one active bid per player, which will generally be the first bid on that player by an opponent. If the first bid is made by the player's current club, this is an inactive bid unless otherwise specified and does not use an active bid slot. You can make as many inactive bids as you want on your own players.
An inactive bid can be made active by stating this at any time (after the trading period has opened) as long as an active bid slot is available. Once a bid is activated, it remains against the team who did so until that player's future is determined.
Once an active bid is made on a player, that bids and all bids that follow for that player will win the player's services if 72 hours elapse with no other valid bid being made. If leading bid is an inactive bid from the current club, the time limit is set at 21 days and can only be countered by an active bid.
Bids cannot be withdrawn regardless of what happens to that player after the bid is made.
Bidding is for uncontracted players only. These players are listed on the following post. The numbers before the names are for trading only, they have nothing to do with bidding. This number represents the minimum salary* (in 1000s) if that player is traded.
*absolute minimum salaries of 190/238/285/333/380 still apply
All bids are final. If you offer a player a contract and nobody beats it, you will get that player. If he retires at any point after the offer you still get him and pay 100% of his salary in 2025 (unless a new career-ending injury comes up between the time of your bid and the lists deadline, then you may be entitled to only pay 50%). It is your job to make sure bids that affect you are valid.
Once a player has been obtained through bidding, he cannot be traded or otherwise moved around.
Bidding on opponents' players
A bid on an opposition player consists of 2 things - a salary (between $228,000* and $1,920,000) and a duration (1 to 5 years). To beat the existing leading bid you must:
- Match the salary; and
- Match the value (salary multiplied by duration);
- Beat the salary by $10,000; or
- Beat the value by $25,000;
*Minimum opposition player bids are 228/286/342/400/476
Any opposition player bid made after trading commences is automatically classed as an active bid and will require a free active bid slot.
Bidding on your own players
A bid on your own player consists of 2 things - a salary (between $211,000** and $1,920,000) and a duration (1 to 5 years). To beat the existing leading bid you must:
- Match the salary; and
- Match the value (salary multiplied by duration)
**Minimum own player bids are 211/264/316/370/422
Any own player bid is automatically classed as an inactive bid. You can make as many inactive bids as you want on your own players. Own player bids can be changed to an active bid by stating so at any time, as long as an active bid slot is free.
On Free Agents
A free agent is classified as any player who was listed to an AFL team for the just ended season and was not contracted to any AFLTM team for that same season.
Free agent bidding follows the same rules as the bidding on opposition player rules.
Rookie Bid
You may make a rookie bid on any uncontracted player (your own, an opponent's of a free agent) in an attempt to place that player on your rookie list for the following season. If successful, this will cost you $104k but it is beatable by any other bid. The same rules for active and inactive bids as above apply here also.
