What's wrong with the trade? Seems pretty fair for everyone.

The main question is what is the Haynes GWS salary cap dump actually worth. And what would happen if we trade Brockman, in this instance it would be better to get a future pick from the Eagles.

Doggies lose Smith but gain a F1 and would take 10 and 12 to the draft before using the rest to match a bid on Croft.

They'd essentially have five first rounders in two years instead of maybe three (all depending on where the Croft bid comes in, which seems like it would happen before pick 17).

GWS move off the Haynes contract and still retain a second first rounder. Essentially a pick slide.

Hawks get Smith and Haynes for effectively a F1.

I think I galaxy-brained it for the most part.
Would be rapt if it was anywhere near this. Maybe 1 could come off - just seems rare all of it gets done
Pick 3 must stay off the table

If we did land Baz the equal best part will be the reaction of the Handbag media + supporters that cry about it. Will be absolutely GLORIOUS!

**** them.

Tanner Bruhn, Ollie Henry, Jack Bowes and pick 7 last year for bugger all.
Two top 5 players in the comp in Danger and Cameron.

If they miss out on one guy and crack the sads they're pathetic.

I
Agree. Got a feeling he'll nominate us soon.

This will get done, but will be last minute of trade period type stuff.
I am hopeful, but trying to keep expectations low.

Free agency is the first challenge! Gresham and McKay would be big wins.

An would just need to play there roles at the Hawks. McKay breaking even with the FF, would allow Mitchell, Sicily and Scrimshaw to clean up.

An if Gresham could add defensive pressure and snag a couple of goals each week, would add so much to the team structure.

Some of those close loses, would be wins.

Hawks are a bit like my Knicks each off season.

We get linked to the best free agents and trade targets for media speculation and or driving the players price up.

If the cats have been negotiating and planning behind the scenes for months then we know how this story ends. It just does.

At the end of the day Smith is a proven gun and is young. He's worth more than the GCS first rounder IMO (given we'd be using a F1 in any deal we make).
Why would the Dogs accept a future first? Keep him for a year, try and win a flag and then trade him with 100% certainty of what that first will be. They are in win now mode.

Because his value wont be as high next year

Especially OOC
Underrated point from BH23. He's out of contract next year and will have a lot more to say about his destiny at the end of 2024. If there is the slightest feeling he will leave eventually, they'll never get more as they could get this year
