Maybe he just knows when to use his energy.
A lot of people thought Stevie J was lazy.
Players like this are the difference in September
Stevie J was crazy talented. Ryan while talented isn’t the sort to be able to keep rocking up at the start of the year overweight like the west coast board have suggested.

Plus now his injury further decreasing his value.

I’m not saying don’t get him. But only get him for very little. Players can find it very difficult to come back from long layoffs.

I like the idea of Ryan and his young family coming across to the Hawks and being there for Brockman’s family.

Those two in the same forward line would be pretty special.

Some champions have this down to an art, saw this recently on Messi on how he spends the start of every game, walking "aimlessly"

Any news on if Brocky is staying?
Not sure, but I doubt it. Just remember, Brocky was going home this year, next year or the year after. The good news is, he wants a deal that can hopefully advantage or have some efficacy for the HFC. That was not the case at the end of last year. Circumstances between Brocky and the HFC are much, much better.

Now Brocky may be a better player than Ryan will be for the HFC. Brocky may not even play for the WCE. It is all subjective. Only time will tell. Because of the relationship with Sam, at least we have something of a chance.

A hypothetical question TheFourPillars
If we re signed Brocky and somehow traded for Ryan, do you think we would still draft the Wiz?

I hope we can get Caleb Windsor in the draft. I’ve seen him and his brother both play and they just ooze class. Unfortunately we never grabbed Kai as a rookie. I was sure he would have put in a great season for The Stangers and got selected in the mid season but his ankles have failed him and he hasn’t even played a game this season.
Caleb has the drive and professionalism while Kai had the material flair.
Anyway, I believe we need to really draft and trade for our front half this season.
Dursma for me thanks MM

Whilst we are building a good core group of players, we are still severely lacking match winners. Richmond's list is no longer what it was, but they still have match winners - this allowed them to do what they did to us on the weekend.

If Brockman reaches his potential, he becomes a genuine match winner. The type of player that can turn a game on its head very quickly. He also plays a position that is a clear deficiency with respect to our list profile. I can only hope we find a way to keep him, but if we can't, we need to make replacing him x 2 a priority in the upcoming draft or trade period.

Understandably, we like to go for known quantites, the safe bet so to speak. Over the next 24 months, I'd like to see some bold high risk/high reward recruiting where possible, to try and get some elite talent through the door at a more economical price.

I agree and if we review the messages from the club for the last couple of years, it will happen. :thumbsu:

But he’s not though. He’s a really great guy off the field who just also happens to be a competitive beast who likes riling up the opposition every now and again. People say the same about Sicily. I’m sure we’d all love him in our colours (though I’d only want him on the cheap which won’t happen).
The only reason I'd want him in our colours is because he wouldn't see it coming from behind. Free shot.

given how many small forwards we are linked to (Liam Ryan, Zac Fisher, Kai Lohmann), I reckon Watson still on the cards. Seems like an area they want to bolster significantly.
So what does this mean for Chad moving forward considering there is also Butler and O’Sullivan yet to debut. And Breust only has a further 12 months

If that is the plan, could it mean that the Wizard isn’t in our plans at pick 3?
I’d still take him. He’s electric.

We’d have an extremely exciting forward half if Ryan and Wizard were added, on top of Brockman.

DGB may part of a Ryan trade
You couldn’t really rule anything out at this stage. Going to be an interesting trade period.
