Cook and Sayers do not operate the entire business by themselves, nor does their past experience allow them to inherently navigate what our current issues seem to be.
I did not understand your post as it refernced injuries. There is work to be done on that front but a large portion is recruiting players with a propensity for injury. Think back 2 years ago, we are better as a club, not great but the arrow is pointing up. Carlton still have to proove they can beat speedy opposition but we beat geelong physically last night-brutalised them to a level that wins big finals.

Jezz was their only target up forward really - the Tomahawk ain't fit....

Which tells you just how dominant he was when we still couldn't stop him.

Charlie's next in line and was also sensational.

Jezza is the MVP of the comp when he's at his best like last night. Singlehandedly dragged them back into the game and battled on magnificently when he was clearly hurting bad.
i'd take Charlie every day of the week.

There will only ever be ONE JEZZA!

Not just the road trip from Geelong. I'm a Blues fan but work north of Bendigo. Getting to MCG after work on a Thursday in time for the game is bloody hard. Friday's aren't a cinch either. let alone getting back home at stupid o'clock ready for a short sleep before work the next day.
Worth it.

Nah that was an ALL TIME game. We were lucky to see it. Worthy of discussion on the cats board.........
so what - ya think they're discussing charlie over there? loser mentality.........he kicked a few goals - bronze the bloke..........

Yeah i know quite a few people personally and who work in my industry who struggle with the long commutes from home and work, some grab some type of accomodation overnight to save the long all round trips…

Good chance the atmosphere next week will be down a peg also. GWS will outnumber their supporters…

Wonder if GWS players noticed any difference when crowds were cancelled for covid...

Charlie needs to watch the tape of Cameron and see that is what he could be a CHF that gets 20+ possessions in the back half and still hits the scoreboard. Cameron doesn't really take the big pack marks but is good enough to get into space to make them uncontested

The joys of having two legit AFL calibre wingmen in Acres and Hollands. Is this a dream?

what a massive difference, I think LOB has also turned the corner in this regard - hopefully 3 legitimate wingman to pick from and Walsh can also pinch hit on the wing with good effect as well.

If Jack Carroll comes on that'll be 3 consecutive draft we've smashed. Mots is a gun. Can't possibly ask for more from Ollie and Moo in their first two games.

is it just me or are so many more draftees across the league coming in and sitting at the level than even 4 or 5 seasons ago? Across the league over the past few years it seems every team has had multiple players that have come in and been at home from the start.

Nah, they're talking about how Stanley was dominating the ruck until he copped a knee, and of course how that changed the game.

Oh that and Jeremy Cameron in between scapegoating the Fijian chap (or escape goating as Matthew Lloyd might say).

Verrrry happy with last night.

No 'almost' Charlie.
Hollands elite runner going to be a star
Harry's last 5 minutes
Cripps first ten minutes of third quarter
Lewis Young unheralded and of great importance to this side
Kennedy just a contested beast
Owies worst three goal game I've seen a bloke play :tearsofjoy:

The amount of times Newman made a bad situation into a good one was astonishing a phenomenal game.
He was almost BOG for us. Stengle carved the Pies up last week but hardly touched it last night. Him missing the last 3 rounds last year greatly contributed to us missing the Finals.

Love him!!

I agree but there's room for slow burn prospects who you put two or three years into developing before they're truly ready to establish themselves in the best 22

Fisher - He was more involved this week. Still lacked the pressure from chasing and tackling, was walked through a couple of times. Finally in the dying stages he showed the desperation, intensity and physicality we want from him.

Can't agree on Fisher. Too many people are waaay too harsh on Fisher and look for reasons to deride him rather than appreciate all of the great stuff he does. He makes ridiculously difficult things look easy. And that goal he was given by TDK was priceless. Reduced Geelong to a rabble at that stage - and exactly the sort of thing they'd do to us in years gone by. Very demoralizing for them - just the way he waltzed in and dropped it over the goal umpire's hat. A thing of beauty.

Spot on…
His spatial awareness, timing & leading patterns are just top shelf, gets up the ground and can set up the chains and also be involved within them as well, all round class footballer…

Durdin - We are so much better with Durdin in the team. He adds that aggression and closing speed to the forward line we lack. Kicked a crucial goal, layed a massive 5 tackles and his brief stint in the middle late in the game, there was some very good play there. Guy could be a gun onballer IMO.

100%. Probably the biggest positive from the night. A lot of hype around Motlop (which is great) but this guy is the real deal. Another year in they system makes a difference. Would love to see his human cannonball act on the ball a lot more in the future.

Lemmey is another long term prospect that will be a very good AFL player.

It's not just the drafting that we are getting better at, it's we have finally gotten our young player development right after more than a decade and a half of us chargrining at how we couldn't develop young players aside from top end picks.

It was a bit sad for me that we had to end our alliance with the Northern Bullants, but it clearly now was the best decision going forwards for the footy club.
