Doesn’t mean u get to make up stories why Hewett was off.
Dow will be sub this week, we won’t beat Brisbane unless we get some burst & outside run happening. Funny how quickly we forget how we got here, Dow was instrumental to that.
Stop talking down players in an attempt to try and get your boy in. Frankly it's just tiresome and an exercise in futility.

Said it before and I'll say it again. If it's a toss up between Holland's (who will play the next 10 years with us) and Dow (who will be playing somewhere else next year) then clearly it's no choice.

Nothing against paddy dow but it's clearly been decided that if all of our midfielders are available then he's not playing.

You need to get over it or you'll be the sad poster who posts "we would have won by more if Dow was playing" after we win the grand final.

Think Kennedy and Cunningham for McKay and Martin is a given but I’d swap marchbank for Boyd…marchbank does some good things but does some really bad things aswell…Boyd has leg speed which I think we are lacking with weitering, kemp and McGovern playing tall already…hewett for Dow would add more speed aswell but can’t see that happening
Absolutely need another small defender.

Selection is tough this week.

Martin for cunners is seemingly obvious. When Cunners had the ball, he was full of class. Unfortunately, isn't really impacting the game and looks tired. Would be a different story if he was kicking goals.

McKay has to come in. Surely we cannot play all of McKay, Kennedy, Charlie, Pitt and TDK. Kennedy is probably the unlucky one, even though he was crucial in some contests last night.

Voss has been bullish about playing the two rucks, but do we really need both of them against OMAC? After the game last night, my answer would be yes. Pitt absolutely battered Gawn and TDK had his best game as a result (although Gawn still played very well, such a warrior he is). It worked beautifully.

It’s not all roses & sunshine. Our ball movement has been off, just because we won doesn’t mean there’s not room for improvement.
Improvement comes from taking a look at what did/didn’t work & overall performance.
Gbatman just posted an extensive post about it.
You can’t just say we won, name the same side as it’s a winning team.
Cunners has been poor - hence he was subbed off, Fog was costly with his disposal & it was massively highlighted he can’t kick it 45m.
Marchy had some absolutely horrible clangers & is looking decidedly shaky.
Hewett did not have a good game, there mids still got plenty of it & we looked slow!
Yes they all did some good things too - they are talented AFL players of course they will do good things.
We weren’t punished for our mistakes & there was lots of them - yes we won but we need to look at it dispassionately & work ensure we don’t make them again next week.
On Paddy - we know that the MC don’t have him first picked, but when they had to play him - he delivered & made us better.
Make him sub & we may even have him for next season

The concept of trying to pot players after last night's triumph just astonishes me. Maybe it's just a personality trait.

Barring injury next week's team is almost picked. McKay and Martin come in for Kennedy and maybe Cuners.

If so sub us between Cuners or Hollands.

We don't have to look at it dispassionately, we are just supporters on an internet forum. Hewett was fine last night 18 touches and three tackles. Was far from our best and far from our worst. Your attempts to talk him down to try and make a spot for Dow are obvious and futile.

3 decision points:

1. Who comes in for H and Martin? Both certain starters, Voss intimated as much in the presser last night. Almost certainly for two of the forward group. Likely Kennedy and Cuningham.

2. Do we persist with two ruckmen? Another week's training could see JSOS come in to contention for Pitto against a side with one key ruckman, and TDK could be a good match for the athletic McInerney. But I feel they'll stick with the current setup, which worked well last night against Melbourne.

3. Do we stick with the four tall backmen? Brisbane have a fleet of damaging small forwards. We might look to add another running backman. Possibly Marchbank out for Boyd or Fisher. Alternatively could throw Doc back, and bring in Hollands as the extra outside mid, but I think Boyd's the man for the job. He and Cinc to pick up Cameron and Bailey. Gov takes Rayner. Weiters and Kemp on their two talls, TDK/Pitto to drift back to help.

So:
OUT: Kennedy, Cuningham, Marchbank
IN: McKay, Martin, Boyd
Hollands backs up as sub again.

Other factor may be injuries. I think they all get up, but for completeness:
Doc/Acres -> Hollands comes in
Weiters -> tough one, I don't think they go with Kemp/Marchy/Gov as the 3 talls. So it's prob big Durds who was an emergency last night.
Cripps -> Dow. Kennedy the other option, just don't think he's got the match fitness.

It’s not potting just for highlighting there was deficiencies & players didn’t perform well (& haven’t for a few weeks)
I’ve been massively complimentary to plenty of the boys.
Yes -I’m a fan of Dow & You're not, how about u get over it.

It’s a fan forum, people will have differing opinions on the style & make up of the side which they want to see & think will perform best - we all want the W thou.

We already lean massively to the positive but that’s not reality.
Look at Hollands, took a good mark from a ridiculously good Weiters kick, got a pass to Doc which took an amazing effort by Doc to mark (he struck the kick ok but it wasn’t brilliant - further to the advantage side would have made it a lot easier. A more seasoned defender would have taken Doc out to give away the free & stop play) & we are all around Hollands and his amazing play - not a single mention of his rather large balls up a few minutes before that, when he kicked it into the man in the mark!
That was a monumental mistake at a crucial time!
No one is potting him - we get around him instead, praise the kick and the massive effort he made after that to lay a bloody important tackle.

Doesn’t mean the balls up didn’t happen & im sure he won’t be doing that again anytime soon

love all of this but sadly can't see the MC wanting to make 4 changes heading into a prelim, though I think all 4 changes make us a better team.

I just can’t fit them all in …
5 on the interchange, one of Cincotta or Fogarty will be very unlucky.

Marchbank. McGovern. Newman.
Cottrell. Cripps. Acres.
Martin. Harry. Cuningham.
Owies. Charlie. Motlop
R. Pittonett. Cerra. Walsh.

E. Hollands. Kennedy. Dow. Fisher.

You know this is a forum right? Theory crafting is part of the fun.

Not sure why you are being so black and white about things and trying to shut down discussion about team changes in a preview thread...

We know Harry and Jack will be coming back in
But if Harry does not shine on the track, I would consider leaving him out - we cannot have him unless he works and takes a few marks (wherever). His confidence is pretty low - if you look at the goal he missed from dead in front in the Elimination Final, you can see he really wanted to kick across his body even for that shot but knew it would be considered ridiculous. However Charlie may need him (to take some heat off) although Jack up there along with TDK for a fair amount of time, might do

Just watched it again
Fog and Kennedy were better than I thought originally
Kennedy will be improved by the game
Motlop must stay in (only stating the obvious as some have sub again = NO)
Cunners definite OUT (I didn't have him in this week)
Owies was fairly poor again, I might keep Kennedy instead of him. Fog was better but unlike Owies he cannot kick you a goal but he does set some up
I would always have Dow in but after not getting the nod this week, you cannot imagine he jumps in front of Dutchy

I don't think Vossy will tinker with the backline much. Do we want Saad to have the lockdown role on Cameron? Would we consider Doc?
I have actually done plenty of team selections (CofS not really 'The Coach') and this would be as hard as they come

IN: Harry (at very least need to see if we can get him ready for GF), Jack Martin, Dow. (Holland stays sub as we have 2 wings with 1 wing)
OUT: Cunningham, Owies (2 finals two fails), Fog (unlucky). Cunners the only one I feel strongly about

How is me holding somebody to account for trying to pot Hewett to make his case for Dow trying to shut down discussion?

You do realise that I dont have any power to stop anyone replying and stating their case other than ignoring them.

Spare me.

3rd time lucky in predicting a loss due to no Dow? It'll happen eventually.

IN: H, Martin
OUT: Kennedy, Fog.
Keep Ollie and as the Sub.

Kennedy looks a yard off and Fog had an absolute howler, decision making was miles off and the pressure was simply to much.

Wouldnt really change the backline at all, charlies speed is my only concern other than that im not to worried.

I'm shitting myself! They have had a week off and have a full list to choose from. We are all battered and banged up. Cripps still wearing that mattress on his ribs. Both wingers are now winged. If we win you can almost guarantee it will be by a straight kick or less. And we will need a bit of luck as well. Just like last night.
Lions similar to the Dee's have trouble with accuracy when it comes to goal kicking.
Kick straight and we can beat the "Paddle Pops".🤞💙
