On looks he's a shoe in. There's a bit of a Matty Egan vibe in that photo too.

Ergo, he plays round 1 and Kolo becomes his understudy.

It is written in the stars.

Ok fantasy fiction aside - do my eyes deceive me or has Danger slimmed down massively? Could be the opposite of the Motlop photo a few years ago I guess.

He does look thinner. Maybe looking to pick up fewer injuries

I am not sure he has. Reckon it might just be the angle in this photo. If you look at video and some other photos he looks pretty chunky still.

Narkle on the other hand looks like he got the message finally that as an outside midfielder you need to be lighter - he has dropped 8kg

Nah it's just these training jumpers. Noticed it a month ago, and pretty much everyone looks slimmer. He'll still look like normal Danger in our proper guernsey, I reckon

I think he has taught Rhys a thing or two as well.

I think he gave rhys some competition around finals last year and rhys needed that-needs the pressure sometimes.

Staggering. Kolo this finals wouldn't have been bullied like he was in 2020 etc. He was a different animal last season.

Any idea when this match in Brisbane will be played? Ill be in Brisbane in Feb would love to catch a Geelong match.
No date set by the AFL yet but i think you may miss out unless your time in Brisbane creeps into early March.
The AFL fixture starts Thursday 16th March Tigers v Blues.
Players get a week off before round 1 starts, so, that would be Thursday 9th to Sunday 12th being no games played.
That would then make the Community series game dates Thursday 2nd through to Sunday 5th March.

If our footy boss's statement is correct, that would make the night game either Thursday 2nd March or Friday 3rd March.

So a bit of a track watch from week 1 training. Focussed on some of the non-mainline players. Second hand so below is all the detail I have!

Not “fringe” but Smith is “burning up the track” and not showing any signs of slowing down. His drive is standing out

Tanner is really showing something - going to be a very good pick up. Unfortunately he ended the week with some niggles so might be managed a bit

Sav is “killing it”. Certainly they are going to stick to him as a defender. Thinking is how can we play him and DK together rather than seeing him as pure backup. (That would create some interesting dilemma)

Ollie H does some really good flashy things but equal amount of poor things. Will need to be more consistent to be considered

Rohan looking really strong and miles ahead of this time last year. Miers also playing really well. Simpson also looking back to his “best”

Ollie D looked really good in the match simulation. A phase of 3 strong contested marks with a couple of goals against the likes of Steward. Hard to see where he gets a shot given he needs to unseat one of Stengle, close, miers or maybe Rohan

First years and most of the second years (other than Mitch and Ollie) are being managed in terms of training…

Hoping that the next month or two just flies and we can get into what could be another exciting season. How much different are our expectations now vs 12 months ago!!

Doesn’t seem to have done Narkle much good though - he was dead last in the Tigers time trial behind Soldo and Nankervis……….

I found out late December so I’m thinking it was prior to their Xmas break.
They apparently did another where he came 3rd was the rumour has generally impressed people after dropping 8kgs over the break

Got that detail wrong but apparently he's dropped the 8kgs in the break which seems to me to be as anatomically unrealistic as barbies legs

That makes sense regarding a few things I've read elsewhere since the reports of his 8kg weight drop - he reportedly turned up for his early training sessions at Richmond (obviously prior to the break) in poor shape & overweight

Doesn't exactly sound like things really have clicked for him and that this opportunity to train with Richmond is his second chance - maybe he just expected it would happen and was given a few home truths when it became clear that wasn't going to be the case

I wish Narkle luck, but none of this changes my mind from the idea that we finally did the right thing in delisting him

Of all of these, Simpson getting back his touch is probably my favourite, even if these are just rumours.

Honestly didn't think he'd go again after the last 2 years he's had and where'd he be now in the pecking order, but I think people forget some of the games he played in 2020 - he was easily best 22.

I did tell all of you tanner will be in the best side this year and will be a very good pickup and i stand by that.

I dont think sav and sdk can get in the same side unless henry plays fwd while hawk is out (possible but not what i do) or no kolo. So i think sav will be backup. But hes no dummy this is his 7th year in the system he needs to be killing it at vfl level so another club will come for him in a trade so he has motivation to perform.

Dempsey wont get a game this year unless he unseats rohan (which he would need to improve defensively a lot to do) but i expect lots of retirements end 23 so a good year in the vfl and i can see him being best 23 in 2024.

Great to hear simpson is doing well...hes definitely afl standard-i cant see how he unseats stengle/close/miers and our mids are stacked but hes good depth to have at vfl level and good injury cover.

Never like disagreeing with you because I trust your judgements, but I think they will will find a way to give Dempsey 5-6 games - or, a better way if saying it, he will earn a decent chunk of time in the ones because he can do things others can't.
