Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

On deeper thinking, have to chastise Bell and co for throwing JL under the bus in thinking this wasn’t a ‘rebuilding’ year rather then a surging ahead to top 4 year.

Lose Mundy. That’s significant experience. Significant leadership. Very shortsighted. Simply replacing him with JOM, who’s completely different and quite frankly the same as Serong and leaves out Brodie, Erasmus. Such a meh trade. He’s already 30 next season. He doesn’t bring anything exciting or adding factor to a midfield that has been crushed all season

Lose Lobb. Yes he was always going to go, but so arrogant to think that Jackson at age 21 would come in, suddenly learn forward and kick 30+ goals. The wrong player, the wrong time. However he’s a star talent, and will be elite over the coming years, just not this season.

Lose Acres. Sure, not very well liked or easily replaced. However he simply been replaced by Henry, who’s developing and isn’t at his ceiling yet. The wing depth is awful at the same time.

Lose Logue. Sure he’s a third defender and back up forward but his presence up forward and perhaps down back would’ve been nice to steady.

The core list is still inexperienced. The forward line is Treacy, Amiss, Jackson. That’s a rebuild forward line, sorry.

The players loss weren’t really replaced and expectations suddenly goes on young players stepping up- who simply haven’t when really they shouldn’t.

JL shouldn’t be the whole blame here.
The list management not having a functioning forward line, lack of smalls even, is crazy.
Johnson will come good, Erasmus too. But that’s years ahead. Amiss is only in his second season.

Perhaps finals 2024, 2025 with aim at flag after that is the better expectation.

lol Geelong with 1m spare in the TPP

Who writes this s**t?
You would be suprised....

Some of those Cats blokes are on only $400-$600,000 a year on 4 or 5 year deals. I would love to be on $10-$12,000 a week for 4 or 5 years, even if I was a B or C grader in a decent sides best 22.

When Patrick Dangerfield left the crows to join the cats, They gave him a 6 year deal at $800,000 A year. $15,000 a week is $780,000 a year.

Not as good as Brad Hills contract at the saints, he is on $900,000 a year for 5 or 6 years.

Salary cap goes up $500-$600,000 a year too, occasionally it goes up $1 million.

Also, players get delisted and are actually on $300-$500,000 a year too.

Really wanted Erasmus to take Mundy’s spot this season. Can see the value in JOM though.
Could it push Ras out the door? Or will he preserve and push to make the team second half of 2023 and full time in 2024?
Why would freo push Ras out the door when JOM is only on our list for the next 2 seasons after this 2023 season is done?

He doesn't play that way in the Afl. He did it once and then stopped. I think with the ball coming back so easily they stop doing it to cover their man. I think a lot if the problem is up the ground.
Really think we need to keep Wilson, and he needs to be played a bit more often. We need his run and carry and we need to release one of Young, Chapman and Clark to the wing.

yea agreed, we lost a lot of experience we had on transition, lobb acres mundy even logue facilitated the fast movement off half back because you could be confident theyd win or half a contest and be in the right position

Hopefully the thought of playing under milk toast doesn’t put him and others off.

The football circle discussions on Fremantle are extremely positive into the future, considering Brockman would be walking into a four year contract here he should be confident that even if JL isn't the one - the next coach will have to really stuff up to not see success with the list progressing.

Should reach out to Chris Scott.
Part time senior assistant for a few years, then if JL doesn’t work out, he walks straight in.

Give him sometime to refresh and recharge.

When’s that stopped anyone?

Would be odd for the current premiership coach to leave mid contract without a scandal.

Wasn’t he available last season but signed on with Hawthorn?

No doubt will get Sharp for free.

He was signed by Hawthorn very late last year for just a single season deal while two babies arrived. He is a talent that can be secured with security on offer.
