I don't think we need a forward pocket from the WAFL/VFL/SANFL to replace Schultz. I think we can replace his defensive pressure, tackles and work rate with a midfielder from there. Find one with a man body and ready to go, a long kick who can slot a set shot when given the chance.

But we will change the way we play if we added Collard and O'Driscoll to the forward half. All of Amiss, Frederick, Collard and O'Driscoll, potentially even Sturt would be too fast to contain and we will leave most of our players in the back half and kick over the top.

Could freo turn someone like Maurice Rioli? I no most mightn’t be heaps keen but he’s only 21. I’d happily say he’ll end up better then brockman, just spit balling but I think freo will try to get someone in

Also. I’m gutted with Schultz. Just embodies everything we love as Freo supporters. There is no way we can replace his output and passion in the next couple of years.

BUT

He’s probably reached his ceiling, and if he was ever going to leave, now would be the best time for the club to maximise his value. (Yes, I’m trying to rationalise this)

Fair assessment.

I'm pulling back from the 'bleeds purple' mantra that has been associated with Schultz. Nominating Pies and requesting a trade after Brockman has nominated WC have done nothing for us.

I am concerned that the trade appears to be from left field. The club should have been ahead of this, but instead we got the club opinion it would be a quiet trade period. In the meantime Henry and Schultz are packing their bags.
