WSW's Alexia Apostolakis going to be a ripper player in a couple of years. Debuted as a 15yo a couple of season back - had been playing as a defender, but now moved into the midfield. Still shows a bit too much of the ball to the opposition when she's attacking but seems to have a big tank to keep running for 90min and looks to have a burst of speed when required.

Scored today. Excellent assist here from Holly Caspers who has a younger sister Madeleine, that's debuted for Sydney United this season and showed good glimspes of talent.

Also a couple of players who had left for overseas contracts have returned to the A-League this round. McKenzie Hawkesby (Syd U) and Alex Chidiac (MVC).

Canberra United lost again, this time 3-2 to Melbourne Victory, although there was a fairly obvious penalty missed late in first half, so perhaps Canberra were a little unlucky not to play in another high scoring draw. I'm sure there might be a Victory supporter claiming they deserved a penalty for a "trip" shortly after Canberra's missed penalty call, but replay's showed the Canberra defender got the ball and the Victory player instigated the connection with the Canberra players back leg and fell to the ground. Definitely not a penalty, so thankful the referee got one thing right.

Questions also have to be asked about the referee allowing Rowe to stop play by sitting on the ground and faking injury, surely, she should have got a yellow card, which means Melbourne should have been reduced to 10 players at the 90-minute mark when Rowe got her second Yellow. Of course, this was before Gielnik's scored the match winner.

One of the interesting little stats about this season to date is Canberra are second last on the table yet are the second-best scoring team and have the league's two leading goal scorers, Milivojevic with 9 and Heyman with 8.

Bottom placed Canberra United defeated League leaders Melbourne City on the weekend, their first win against City in three years.

Heyman scored her 10th goal of the season to move a goal clear of teammate Vesna Milivojevic and Victory's midfielder Rachel Lowe. If she does finish the season as leading scorer it would be her third golden boot and first since 2011/12.

With the final series extended to a top 6 this season all teams are still in the hunt for a playoff berth, but with only 7 games to go Adelaide and Canberra (who have 8 games) they would hope that their current good form can lead to a solid winning streak and get them back into the fight.

Congrats to Michelle Heyman for her recall to the Matilda's for their upcoming Paris Olympic qualifiers, she is the heart and soul of the Canberra United club and has been in amazing goal scoring form since her return to United a few seasons ago.

I think it is a well deserved recall and I wish her all the best.

Along with the other 22 players names in the squad.:)

Two more goals to Michelle Heyman tonight in a 2-2 draw at Perth take her season tally to 12. Canberra conceded the equalizer in the 92nd minute, I think that is the 4th or 5th time this season Canberra has conceded a late goal which has either cost them the 3pts or a draw, instead of being equal last, we should have been in the fight for a finals spot. :(

Heyman has now taken her career goal tally to 106, 94 of them were scored in Canberra Green. After a slow start to the season her recent form has been brilliant, 9 goals in her last 7 games, hopefully she can score another 6 in Canberra's remaining 7 games this season and bring her Canberra tally to three figures. :)
