I thought we had gone cold on CCJ and/or Chol but obviously we haven't. CCJ would essentially be the perfect pick up for us in a lot of ways because he is a 22 year old forward that is about to enter his prime years physically (just like King) as well as being that big bodied, contest marking beast that we need in our forward line. In June, CCJ was ranked fourth in the competition for most contested marks in the league so that tells you everything you need to know considering he was only 21 years old at the time. His game style should compliment Kingy well and we don't really have to worry about developing him because Richmond have already done it for us over the last four years. We'd also have the twins towers effect going on with 202cm King and 201cm Coleman-Jones being very difficult for opposition defenders to handle. CCJ is from South Australia and we have a good track with record with South Australians so overall I think he'd be a very nice pick up for us that could easily turn into a 10 year player with the club.

Even Chol is potentially a really great pick up for us. He's about to turn 25, 200cm tall and has rotated through the forward line / ruck for most of his time at Richmond. A versatile tall that can plug any holes we have around the ground and address the lack of height we've struggled with lately. I've even seen Chol play as a key defender so there's plenty of options there with him. Chol also grew up on the south side of Brisbane in Acacia Ridge (very close to our academy zone in Logan) so there's the added storyline of bringing a 'Queenslander' home. For context, Secco grew up 20 minutes down the road in Springwood which is inside our academy zone.

Interesting… these two and no one else would be a massive tick

I'd rather either of these over Rory Lobb
Lobb just screams perpetual disappointment
Seems Dew has trouble bringing any of his past charges in to the Club, but Ellis and Legs Markov are doing the work with Richmond maybe

Chol and CCJ play the same position as that relief ruck. I doubt they'd want to come to GC together.
The thing is, we have two spots up for grabs - KPF and back up ruckman. Even though they are similar in that they can both play as a key forward or in the ruck, we have two available spots for them. I think we all learnt a lesson this year that we desperately need more tall depth on our list. Especially given Zac Smith just retired.

Lobb seems pretty unlikely now that Neale has confirmed he's staying with the Lions. I think there was a chance for us to get Lobb on a cheaper deal if Neale had requested a trade back to Fremantle but that hasn't happened so it would appear we've pushed on with CCJ and/or Chol now.

Bring in CCJ, Chol and a KPD through the draft as well as keeping all our young guys and we're set for a big 2022!

Agree with most above that CCJ and Chol would be excellent signings. Especially CCJ, potential to be a very good player imo.

Interesting that neither have signed, assume they are out of Richmond if not signed by now.

I'd imagine Richmond's cap space would be very tight at the moment. Players are willing to take less when the team is competing for flags or in the finals but the Tigers looked a shadow of the team they once were throughout 2021. So we should be able to appeal to guys like CCJ and Chol who would probably be making a lot less than they are worth. CCJ is one player that is particularly exciting because it's been a while since we had a big bodied key forward that can take a lot of contested marks. You could argue Dixon was the last guy we had that fit the bill.

Tom Lynch ring a bell?

Was he considered a big bodied key forward while he was with us though? He always seemed to have a leaner frame to me. Dicko probably would have had around 10kgs on him and they were essentially the same height. CCJ seems to be more like Dixon with a 105kg+ body already.

Yes, in 2016 he averaged 2.8 contested marks a game. Was about 100kg the last 3 years he played for us

Both players have been offered contracts at Richmond and have been on the table since before the season ended

Chol is a free agent and would have been offered a 2 year deal in the range of $300k-$350k i would think and Cj similar with longer years

Just out of curiosity what type of trade do you guys think Cj would be worth ?
I know Richmond would hate to lose him after using pick #20 (we rated him higher than Balta & Allen in his draft) and after 4 years looking like he is ready.

happy for GC to take Chol but Cj would be disappointing to lose

Due to the lack of tall players and his upside I reckon our second round pick 22 is on the mark.

Either 19 or 22 is fair imo. A similar pick to what he was drafted at, given how little he has played is about right.

The Sun's and Richmond have done a few amicable trades recently so should be able to get it done if that's what the player wants.

I wonder who the club has on the radar to delist. Not a pleasant time of year when your dreams are shattered but when you finish in the bottom 3 again difficult decisions need to be made. Drew is on his last legs and I would imagine no Finals next year no Drew. Due to that we may be in for an interesting trade period. For the club and suffering supporters lets hope we crush it.

Righto then what do you consider fair value for a 9 game 11 goal player who has been in the system for 4 years?
you forgot that has been suspended for 10 games and kicked out of QLD for disciplinary reasons.

** Before Richmond fan tells me he was the u18 captain of SA
