This is Part 1

The thread is continued in part 2:

I can’t understand why we have come out and said he will be traded 2 days before the trade period opens!?! This is like the Weller to GCS trade in reverse. We have just handed over all our leverage. We’ll get pick 45 or something like that.
kane Cornes was right all along. “A pick in the 50s” he said last August about Hogan.

This is a good point. I wouldn’t be getting my hopes up. The fact that the trade is already agreed means it’s unlikely that there are any first round picks involved. I’d say pick 30 (Corr compensation pick) come on down. Very surprised if it’s more than that.

the yardstick might well be when we drafted Harley, a lot of similarities in their respective situations;-

2015 - draft picks 16 and 35 to the Suns in exchange for Bennell and pick No.22.

Kano was right I suspect.

Its agreed because we didn't put up a fight or GWS offered way more than we expected and we just said yes.

Have the media ever been remotely close to predicting the compensation we get for one of our players?

Normally they've been miles off. Not expecting something massive but will not be surprised if we get something that will once again make them say "was not expecting that".

If we get sufficient to help us pay for Walker and/or Western it might be a good result even if it low picks. Saves us having to borrow too much from next year.

The trade value for Hogan should be directly related to the contract at GWS he is moving to.

If he signs a three or four year contract at GWS then it should be a big trade.

If he doesn't sign a new deal at all, one year at GWS - then we shouldn't expect much.

Yeah some junk picks with 2nd round points equivalent is likely worth the same to us as an actual 2nd rounder this year.
Junk picks are worth nothing to GWS, especially in a year like this. I’d expect the club to do 2 things from this trade:
(A) ensure we are able to match walker and Western without any 2021 deficits and protect our full suite of picks for next years superdraft.
(b) either get Clark and one live pick before bids in this years draft, or else get 2 live bids in this years draft, something like pick 13 and pick 20 or thereabouts. We give up pick 12 and pick 31 and Hogan.

No way we are getting both A and B. If we are lucky, we'll get enough points for A.

It's highly likely too if you're a club that's off-loading Cameron now and had to add an extra year to beat out someone like Sydney for his services.

They've shown they have $900,000 a year for five years on their books available for a key forward.

I entirely expect Hogan's management has been exploring options as soon as his match payments weren't coming in because he spent so long in the reserves, he can't afford to burn $15,000 to $20,000 per game when he is fit.

We can all switch 6pr off for the next few weeks, can imagine Hagdorn spouting his Garbage

“I told you about hogan I was right Fremantle were stupid in the first place to get him but as usual no one listened to what I was saying”

My guess is that he's got a bit more securiy from GWSN (term) but less money. I can see something like 3 years $500K p.a.

IMO that's a second round pick in trade value.
