Tough call. Joe has some pace and chase in the F50. Belly slows that right down and easy enough to target on the rebound.

Also, with such an advantage he got on the weekend, berger didn't impress me too much. Yes he got plenty of the first taps - just that not too many of them got into our hands. Young group? Miscommunication? At times he was farming out taps to no one.

Yeah strongly agree here. Was watching the game, and with no Jacobs for most of it I thought Leuenberger was disappointing. Started to pick up on it probably early during the 3rd and noticed none of his taps were really beneficial, and honestly I only noticed 2-3 times where he was making an effort to direct it.
Was surprised to see the love on here for him after the game.

I really don’t see it in Bellchambers.

My biggest worry is his inability/refusal to use his body. He’s terribly easy to knock out of a contest at his size. He seems to flop around constantly, drives me nuts.

What am I missing? When has he ever been an effective forward?

He is a terrible and lazy forward. Just stands there and points to the lord, ball gets brought to ground and his opponent runs away with it.

I would have had a Berger/Smack combo myself, but Smack's form in AFL has been so bad over the last month that it makes me worry.

Massive part of this is the size/ability of our midfield and probably the fact that most of the young guys are running on near empty. They get pushed out of position and don't block for each other. With a matured big bodied midfield Leuy's work will be appreciated a hell of a lot more.

Luenberger- 1st ruck
Bellchambers 2nd ruck/resting forward
One of a Minson/Jamar/Giles type player required on the list as the "break in case of an emergency" type third ruckman.

Unfortunately McKernan looks to have done his dash and Nyuon still raw

Bellchambers in 2013 could do somthing nobody else on our team can do right now - kick straight. Could turn into a full forward like Lade.

Kicking 2.1 compared to 1.2 is of small consolation if we have a stagnant forward line for our midfield to kick to ... and then when the resulting kick in hope is turned over allow the opposition to attack quickly.

Bellchambers only works if we're on top, Hooker and JD are tearing it up and he then drags the opposition's third best KPD deep.

It can work, but a few ifs there

Agree, dosent work hard enough, dosent move. He has one move...jump at the pack and hope he plucks it one grab, if he dosegt the ball is gone

My memory is shot. eth-dog probably knows the details by rote. He was quite good down forward one year. Can take a grab and is quite a reliable shot for goal when fit (which he basically hasn't been since that time).
the year he and Ryder were up there with Cox/NicNat as the premier ruck duo in the comp, he was playing very well as a forward, but far better as a ruck. Might have been 2012 when we were doing well.
Last time i saw him in the forward line his kicking was shot.
He's certainly an option for FF. Has the size, mark and strength. We'd need him to stay fit and get his kicking back.
We would almost certainly not ruck him unless there was 100% confidence in his foot to withstand the rigours of the role.

If we're smart, we get into Riley O'Brien and point to Jacobs/Jenkins being a good 4 years away from slowing down
He'd be our #1 by end of 2017

Leuy and TBC cant play together many on here know my views.

JoeD would be my second ruck for very small stints like Brown and Jenkins are used which is barely. I think JoeD as much as he is excellent forward he can offer something further up the ground for stints, has good skills around the ground for a bloke his size, can take pack marks around the ground.

Leuys main asset is also his ability to run all day which works perfectly with Joe D. If we had a NicNat then id probably be looking to play another ruck but Leuy has the running ability of Jenkins/Goldstein if not greater.

It will be interesting to see how our forward line works next year. With Hartleys excellent form id be going with Hooker and JoeD as the 2 big talls than we have some nice high 180 forward types like Laverde, Watson and Langford ect who can take a mark, then the elite smalls of Z.Merrett, Fantasia, Colyer ect buzzing forward and midfield.

The guy that has rucked all 2016 and done a decent job I think - Leuenberger - should be the main ruck in 2017.
TBell should be training (and play) as more of a tall stay at home forward who can spend time in the ruck to give Leuy a chop out when needed - he did this to great effect in 2013 where he managed to kick 28 goals.
I dont see any reason they both cannot be in the team together either, and I think TBells presence as a stay at home forward will greatly benefit Joe as a CHF, allowing him to roam freely in the forward half and be real weapon with his marking and long kicking.

I agree

Can't see TBC and Leuey playing together.

The year off may be a very good thing for TBC's body.

It was shot and so was his confidence. Playing injured really hurt him, it culminated it that game at Etihad where he played with his sock down to reveal the huge think strapping. Was like a public cry for help.

Hopefully with a fit body he can display some physicality which is his big issue - I hate to use the word but for a bloke of his size playing ruck and key forward, he's been relatively soft.

as bad as hes been this year, I think Smack will end up getting another year as depth. If one of, or both Leuey and TBell go down, we are in serious trouble. Both are very injury prone.

Big Tom without the leg injuries is a completely different proposition but I guess you could say that about Luenberger who has been good this year. If both are fit, Bellchambers rotating up forward could be the answer to our forward line issues.

Think the general rule is you have 4, incl one project ruckman (Gach this year).

Can't see us flicking Smack unless we bring in another mature ruck
