we have won 2 games of our last 19, and still have 37,000 members.....be very happy......
Yes but the key will be this Saturday night - as some people have suggested here the crowd may well be in the 15k range (i think it will be higher but no more than 20k). If it does drop into the mid teens and we get beaten the fact that we have 37k members won't count for much in the media's eyes - they will be after blood and we need to be ready to contain that. A win will obviously help but also would be a reasonable turn up in crowd size - if in doubt - turn up!

Well I'm pumped to be there this Saturday Night!?!
Let's get there in numbers, be loud and win this ****ing game.

Saturday a good opportunity to measure the real number of supporters in Vic. Crowds <20k put our long term viability in question.

With us sitting 0-5 and this game being against a team with bugger all support themselves I doubt the knives will be out. The AFL being the new owners of the joint should also help ease any fears re "long term viability".

What are our recent crowds v GCS at Etihad? That'll be the measuring stick.

We'll get our 20k like I mentioned previously.

Two games played at ES, 5 at Metricon.

Round 5, Etihad Stadium, Attendance: 17680 Saturday, 28th April 2012, 4:40 PM AEST
Round 7, Etihad Stadium, Attendance: 19819 Sunday, 4th May 2014, 1:10 PM AEST

Should the Dogs long term viability have been questioned when in 2015 they drew sub 20K crowds to games against the Crows, Dockers and Giants? Or the Saints last year when they drew sub 20k against the Lions and Dockers or in 2015 against the Giants and Dockers? Or Melbourne in 2015 when they drew 8000 against the Giants?

Let’s not get hyperbolic on this. We are 0-5, we have just dropped out of flag contention and culled senior players. Of course fair-weather supporters are going to drop off. Questioning our viability because if this is shallow and base thinking that does not factor in a whole raft of other factors in a clubs viability. Do you think that we would be implementing our own VFL team if our viability was in question?

I'm sure 20k will be the aim.

Wish I could like twice.

Crock of shit if there's any scrutiny over our crowd this week.

Don't think Saturday nights crowd of 15,431 should get people in a paranoid state of " are we viable "

We where 0-5 playing a club with no real supporters the GCS and to add to that it was on free to air TV.

Surely as a club we are past that paranoia of " are we viable " or " does the AFL want us"

We are here to stay! that was decided years ago for me mainly thanks to J.Brayshaw and a lot of loyal people.

As for the membership tally does anyone know what the current total is ? surely the total on the membership portal is not correct because it has been rising so slowly.

Has just been updated.

37,984.

Looks like we won't even reach 40k.

- 202 on our 2015 total.
-3,616 on our 2016 total

Teams like Melbourne and Dogs had an extended period without success even Saints been a while. I'm sorry but I feel it is complacency to just expect that North would survive (in Melbourne) with an extended period at the bottom without that question being asked. I thought we would be closer to 20k on Sat but the drop in support and membership is a stark reality. Of course getting a win was the main thing. If the financial equations at North are different to the past then that 's great but I fear they're not.

I'm not surprised about that. I know some people who bought memberships for the first time, some for their kids as well, specifically because of Brent Harvey. I don't think they have renewed (but could be wrong about that). Realistically tho, without something like Harvey playing 400 games then breaking the all time games record they might not have brought them in the first place.

That was one issue with delisting him that the club probably didn't think through.

If we win a flag soon they might be back on board. Some might be back anyway, especially if we recruit well or the J. Kelly thing happens with its associated publicity.

I'm more excited about our current team and the way we're playing than the last two years. Not sure what all the people who've dropped off are watching?
Our season is not dead. That crowd against GC was poxy. No wonder we need the "make some noise" bullsh1t.

far from dead. We could go to the bye 5 - 6 and then we have a pretty good run home.
