You may want to refer my original post where i stated IIRC ? .....so b4 you try and point score, get your facts right .....i never stated as fact, and no-one corrected me, so i assumed no change by the AFL

Playing 18 players thru 7 on-field at any time .....just makes a mockery of the concept
Sorry petal, I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings.

I think you can play up to ten players per game but up to 18 across the two (three if you make the finals) games.

I would hardly slam anyone for not knowing the rules of a meaningless competition. In fact it is a sign of the lack of meaning in my life atm that I have actually read something about AFLX. In my defence, it was on the Poort Pear Board and they are really fired up to win three “flags” before March .

Has anyone ever referred back to a 'bookmarked' post?
We could have an official bookmarked thread, where these posts are copied in... because personally I couldn't be bothered finding them!

So i was in fact correct ......apology accepted

Otten is an interesting selection. I'm not sure what to read into that if anything at all
Pretty much every fringe defender we have has been named - Keath, Otten, Kelly, Doedee, Cheney. They're all fighting for 2 positions. AFLX could be seen as an opportunity to let them fight it out for those last 2 positions in defence.

That said, I think Kelly has the inside running on one of those 2 positions. It's probably only Lever's former position which is really up for grabs.

There's simply no relevance between who's named in the AFLX squad ....and the Round 1 side
I wouldn't say there's no relevance, but I certainly wouldn't say that none of these players will play R1. I think the defenders are fighting for 1 position. On the other hand, I would be very, very, surprised to see any of the AFLX midfielders playing in R1.

7. Jordan Gallucci, 8. Jake Kelly, 17. Curtly Hampton, 19. Jackson Edwards, 22. Andy Otten, 25. Kyle Cheney, 28. Cam Ellis-Yolmen, 31. Patrick Wilson, 34. Elliott Himmelberg, 35. Matthew Signorello, 37. Paul Hunter, 38. Harry Dear, 39. Tom Doedee, 40. Ben Davis, 42. Alex Keath, 43. Reilly O’Brien, 44. Lachie Murphy, 45. Ben Jarman

Assuming Gallucci's role is as a forward ......so really the only mid potential for Rnd 1 is Hampton......and i'm not going to start that discussion again ;):p

I just have a feeling that Patrick Wilson and Lachlan Murphy are going to be a lot better than most people expect. I think Wilson has all the attributes to be a good goalkicking midfielder and Murphy has been a solid defender in the reserves for us. If both of them can play like they do in the Sanfl at AFL level then I reckon we'll be able to add another two rookie successes onto our long list.

I certainly wouldn’t be getting too hung up on the squad. For mine it looks like they’re potentially auditioning the medium/3rd tall defender positions, as well as the small forward position, ie Charlie and Jake’s spots and have thrown in a few extras who are unlikely to get JLT time.

For Jakes position we have:
Kelly
Doedee
Keath
Otten
Cheney

For Charlie’s position we have:
Gallucci
Hampton
+/- Jarman/Davis/Murphy

The rest:
Edwards
CEY
Wilson
Himmelburg
Sig
Hunter
Dear
O’Brien

If we make that assumption about Gallucci, then I'd argue that there are no midfielders named in the AFLX squad with the potential to play in R1. ;):D

Of course you'd come to that conclusion :p

T

We've only named 3 players with 50+ AFL games - Otten (98), Cheney (77), and Hampton (60). We already know that Cheney is on a dead man walking contract. I'm betting that at least 2 of those 3 players will be gone at the end of the year. If you've played 50+ AFL games, and you've been named in an AFLX team, you know that your career is in deep, deep, trouble.
Mmmm .....apparently Fyfe is in a lot of trouble then ?

Fremantle probably have something to prove. It's probably their only chance to get their hands on some silverware, given that the club's trophy cabinet is completely empty. Adelaide has bigger fish to fry, which is why we're treating AFLX as a joke and naming our worst possible team.

That's a long long bow to draw ......IMO again about fitness and getting Fyfe in the AFL groove for season proper

Possibly. I have no idea whether or not he's had a full pre-season. Maybe he needs a rund. I really haven't been following their injury situation, particularly since the 2017 season finished.
