Great move by Froome, everyone thought he was just going for the points but he was really getting clear of the rest..Well done, the TDF is won by seconds these days and this move could make all the diference...amazed that BMC aint helping to bring him back as well.

10 sec bonus for Froome too, he could be leading the other main contenders by 25 seconds or so..He will hold the yellow from now till the end imo.

He just goes away every off season and works on his weaknesses till they no longer are. Rode repeats over cobbles when everyone said it would be his stage to lose heaps of time on, now learns the Mohoric and drops the bunch on a descent. Respect.

Is it just me, or are Movistar riding a really dumb race? Everything they do turns to sh!t.

The other day they put riders on the front of the peleton, decimated themselves, and made no impact on UK Postal at all.

Last night they demonstrated either an unwillingness to chase Froome on the descent, or an incompetence at descending. I'm not sure which, but neither is flattering.

Quintana is the big favourite, it was up to them to chase. They never looked interested in chasing. It was only when BMC went to the front that Froome's lead started to come down, but by then it was too little too late. Movistar had let him get away and BMC were just limiting the damage.

Well done to Froome and UK Postal. They deserved the win and the yellow. But geez, Movistar need to lift their game.

thatwas crazy stuff by froome last night. never been a fan of him but that was ballsy

Good stage tonight.

Will be a pretty small peleton by the final climb

I am sick and tired of watching peanuts interfere with the riders. They need barriers before some loony takes out a leader of the race just because he thinks its funny to run alongside or in front of a bike. I just saw a guy in a yellow wig and top get a smack in the back of the head by one of the riders. Good. Smash em all . Peanuts
WTF. Found out it was Froome and they fined HIM??? 270 Euros

Crazy be crazy

Porte looking like a beast.

Good ride by Porte, pity about his flat tyre at the start of the Tour. Dumoulin's rise continues.

Bloody hell what a way to finish off that climb in pouring rain and hail. I was flicking between this and Eddie Mabo movie and saw it was sunshine when they started the last climb. The presentation might be fun.

Can SBS piss off Mike Tomalaris with post race cliche driven babble. **** why hasn't he grown with his audience. If you are up between 12.30 and 1.30 am you are a fan not a novice. Leave Phil and Paul to do that. I wonder how many Aussie rider questions he will ask Robbie tonight and ignore so many others.

#trolldj has had a cracker tonight with his musical selections.

If SBS dont give these 2 geriatrics the boot after this year they may as well hand over the tv rights to somebody else. It's painful to listen to Phil call the end of a race nowadays.

Perfect stage and conditions for Nairo,

and he just sits on wheels. At least Porte had a little bit of a crack.

Well done to Yates, not a single team mate all race and 2nd overall after a week and a few mountain stages.

A few thoughts on last night's stage...

Firstly, Movistar continue to suck. They promised us that Quintana would attack on the slopes of Arcalis. They lied. Porte, Martin, Yates and even Froome all attacked. Several times each. Quintana did not launch a single attack, he just sat on Froome's wheel and did nothing whatsoever for the entire stage.

Historically, Froome has attacked on the first of the mountain top finishes and put the other riders onto the back foot. These attacks have usually put minutes into the other riders. Not last night. He tried, but he just couldn't get away from the other 4 riders. Maybe it was the weather. Maybe he just didn't have the legs. The cynic in me says that it was because AMO have been so active in the last few days, using the thermal imaging cameras, looking for electric motors. We all know that UK Postal are massive users of pharmaceutical doping. I wouldn't put it past them to use mechanical doping as well, if they thought they could get away with it. The suggestion here is that he's used electric motors in previous Tours, but not this one. Maybe that's tin foil hat thinking - I really don't like UK Postal and I wouldn't put anything past them in their attempts to win.

Whatever the case, Froome will leave the Pyrenees without a race winning lead. Historically, he's struggled in the final week of the race. In previous years, he's established a big enough buffer in the early stages that his subsequent weakness hasn't hurt him. He doesn't have that buffer this time around. That could make this the most interesting Tour in a very long time.

I do laugh at Phil & Paul talking about mechanical doping, and saying that it would never happen at the Tour. I call bullsh!t. Firstly, we know it happens at the highest level, because that 19yo girl got caught at the world cyclo cross championships. Secondly, we know it happens in the mens' professional peleton, because we saw the pictures that were published after the thermal imaging cameras were used at the Strade Bianchi race, earlier in the season. If riders think they can get away with it, then they will. The only reason I have confidence that it's not happening at this year's tour is because the AMO (going against the UCI) is very active in using the thermal imaging cameras to look for these devices.
