Are you sure about that? He spent a week at the Suns and lived with Ablett in 2013 and he wanted to get picked up by us. Same manager as Ablett and I'd be surprised if Gazza isn't in his ear.
Which GWS 2nds mids would you pick up?? Lamb, Scully and Palmer all butcher the ball and we have enough of those. I'd rather we chase quality that will get us into finals for years to come.
This article shows GWS players not getting games: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-05-28/raiding-the-lost-and-injured-giants
Not all are midfielders but worth taking a look at some of theses players not getting a run in the 1s.

Spot on.

Sydney lost Malceski and seemingly haven't been impacted by it at all. Hawthorn lost Buddy and went on to win the premiership.

We lose Dicko and we does his ACL and we win a premiership? Is that how it works?

Geelong Lost Ablett and still won the flag

If the Zac Smith to Essendon rumours are true and Gorringe almost definitely certain to leave, then I think David Hale suddenly becomes a target for the Suns. Brooksby (although injured now) has been pretty good but with the potential departure of Dixon as well, you really have to start thinking about your talls stocks. I know some aren't so keen on Hale but what would it take to get him if the club wanted him?

Wouldnt give anything under a fourth round pick for a 32 yr old ruckman..
We wouldn't be using it anyway on draft night.
Wouldn't give them anything other then Josh hall either player wise :)

Will he be offered another contract by Hawthorn?
You'd think not with Ceglar and McEvoy in front of him and you'd imagine they'd be more interested in developing the next one, rather than trying to patch Hale up to run around for Box Hill

Gorringe isn't a key forward, defender and certainly not a wingman, despite him wanting to play there in the NAB Cup. He will only make it as a ruckman. He would have some currency if he wants out in that role. I'm not against him staying if Smith leaves but he will only be that back up player like a Cam Wood, Warnock, Hampson, Griffen unless he improves out of sight.

The Suns could have a few extra picks by the time the trade period rolls around with Dixon, Smith and potentially a few others being traded. Trading a second rounder for Hale wouldn't be the worst idea if you already have another 2-3 first rounders/early second rounders. Hale could even be a part of a trade involving one of the other guys wanting to be traded to Victoria. All I'm saying is the club virtually has no ruck depth outside of Nicholls and there is a rumour floating around that Hale's wife would like to go home to the Gold Coast.

Three thoughts:

  1. If we need a back-up ruckman then that is not a bad problem to have since there are more ruckmen available than spots. Which is why Zac Smith might want to leave.
  2. If Dixon does leaves then Peter Wright will be developed for that ruck/forward spot, and we will hang onto Brookers as a fall back. Just to annoy Ben Drever, I will also mention Sam Day here as a ruck/kpp option.
  3. Don't forget that the AFL is likely to drop the substitute and move to 4 on the bench, with the 120 rotations being the limiting factor. Much easier to carry an extra key position player who can spend time in the ruck, allow for the big men to sub more often, and cover for an injury to a key position player. So there will be a spot for Day or Brookers on the bench with TNich, Rory, May, Lynch, and Wright/Dixon on the field.

Having watched Hales early / mid career as a North supporter I have to say DO NOT WANT

I don't want to pay for him
I have a reasonably close ear to the ground re David
A quality person with a strong academic record too
Has he reached the stage where he might come home and do a "Raines"?
ie provide list depth/experience with a view to coaching
Or is he still dreaming of another year or two at the top?
When the end comes it comes quickly in AFL

Your kidding me.. Na jk your alright..
Has it been confirmed the AFL are dropping the interchange changes to 90 next year?
If they do.. Would mean no teams would be playing 2 genuine ruckman

Rumour has it Matera might be signing with the Gold Coast titans after being spotted at the Origin last night View attachment 144572

Ok maybe Matera Dicko Matera and Stanley were all meeting with there managers down in melbourne.
Didn't exactly get the cream of seats now did they, if one of the Melbourne clubs was courting them I would expect a shot from the members area.

The club has been quiet, too quiet. We haven't heard of any club suspensions, season ending injuries or players deciding to retire all of a sudden.
Very weird.

I am waiting for the story headline

Eade says **** this, I'm outta here
