NFL 2013 NFL - Mock Drafts

“This is a tough week for Collin Klein, who wants to be an NFL quarterback,” Charles Davis said on NFL Network. “He has many Tebow-esque qualities, including a throwing motion that many people question.”

Stephen Holder of the Tampa Bay Times attended the Shrine Game practice and described Klein’s throwing motion as “very strange.”

And Steve Muench of ESPN.com writes that Klein “labored to drive the ball downfield, needing to summon everything he had to put zip on vertical passes, and . . . also made some questionable decisions.”

Reports come in saying that scouts were laughing at his throws.

He's gay.

This isn't a slander or insult. This is just my theory as to the only possible explanation.

Good Mormon boy, raised in a strict Mormon family, going to Notre Dame? None of that equals a gay-friendl upbringing.

I think he concocted all this to hide the fact that he's gay, and to explain to others why they never see him with girls, etc.

^ That seems to be pretty common theory behind why he'd do this, and there seem to be a couple of online draft experts that are alluding to the fact that actual NFL scouts are potentially thinking the same thing.

Te'o's released a statement saying that he was the victim of a prank, but I personally don't buy that he wasn't in on this

You talking about the press conference where the documentary "Catfish" was used as evidence as to why it was a hoax and Manti wasn't in on it? Didn't see it, but it sounds laughable

And to add further intrigue to this story,
Reagan Mauia, an Arizona Cardinals fullback, said he believes Kekua existed because he met her in person when he and other Polynesian teammates and Pittsburgh Steelers star Troy Polamalu went to do charity work in American Samoa in June 2011.

"This was before her and Manti," Mauia said Wednesday evening. "I don't think Manti was even in the picture, but she and I became good friends. We would talk off and on, just checking up on each other kind of thing. I am close to her family. When she was going through the loss of her father, I was -- I offered a comforting shoulder and just someone to bounce her emotions off. That was just from meeting her in Samoa."

Mauia said Tuiasosopo -- whom Mauia believes is Kekua's cousin -- introduced the two. After the initial meeting, Mauia said he met her at an "after-party" for all of the athletes involved in the camp.

"She was tall," he said. "Volleyball-type of physique. She was athletic, tall, beautiful. Long hair. Polynesian. She looked like a model ... "

He said it is his understanding that Kekua's mother is operating her Twitter account. He said he'd never met her mother. When told by a reporter that she apparently might not have existed, Mauia said "No, she is real."

Mel Kiper has put his 1st mock draft out.

He has Luke Joekel going one and Demontre Moore going two.

Has this ever happened before? two players from the same school going 1 or 2? i guess its feasible with SEC schools and such.

His top 10 is as follows

1-KC - Luke Joekel - OT - Texas A and M
2- Jacksonville - Demontre Moore - DE - Texas A and M
3- Oakland - Star Lotulelei - DT - Utah
4- Philadelphia - Dee Milliner - DB - Alabama
5- Detroit - Jarvis Jones - OLB - Georgia
6- Cleveland - Bjoern Werner - DE - Florida State
7- Arizona - Chance Warmack - G - Alabama
8- Buffalo - Manti Teo - LB - Notre Dame
9- NYJ - Barkevious Mingo - DE - LSU
10- Tennessee - Dion Jordan - DE - Oregan

100% the NFL draft will not look like that. Only way a QB doesn't go #1 to KC is if KC trades down but still within the top 5~, ala the Rams last year

Im not sure if he is right for the rest of the top 10, but i actually 99% think Joekel will be pick 1, whether its KC picking or not.

I wouldnt pick any QB this year before 15, but im sure someone will reach for Geno Smith. Just dont this Joekel can be passed up.

Semi related, but the Sooners had something like 4 of the top 5 picks in the 2010 draft

The QB class is shithouse this year, compared to other positions.

But, I am not sure that eight of the first ten picked will be defenders.
It's not that bad just the top end QB talent isnt there.

i bet there is an Andy Dalton esque player from this draft or a matt schaub type.

I personally like Mike Glennon from NC state good arm good throwing action only negative is his footwork which can be easily fixed with some decent coaching.

Tyler Wilson is pretty good i think if he goes to a good team with some weapons on offence he could flourish but if say he went to the Jets for example i think he would be a complete failure.

Mingo is way to high at 9 he is more of an athlete than a football player i wouldnt be surprised if he was a total bust in all honesty.

Te'o also to high he really is a bog average linebacker at the next level i dont think he will be anything special doesnt have the athletic ability.

There's an interesting article on draftcountdown that looks at the quarterbacks taken in the second and third rounds of the NFL draft from 1992 to 2010. To say the results of that group is ordinary is an understatement. Drew Brees is the only standout, and he was taken with pick 32, with Matt Shaub and Andy Dalton (not included in this article because he was drafted in 2011) probably the only other two worthy of a mention.

The article is at: http://www.draftcountdown.com/features/23qb/23qbs.php

As you can see there were a total of 41 quarterbacks taken in either the second or third round during that time frame. There were some who started quite a few games and had varying degrees of success (i.e. Kordell Stewart, Jake Plummer, Brian Griese) and others who managed to bounce around the league for a quite a while (i.e. Todd Collins, Charlie Batch, Josh McCown, Chris Simms, Charlie Frye) but overall the group leaves a lot to be desired. In fact, so far Drew Brees is the only one who developed into a great quarterback for the team that drafted him and he was the 32nd overall pick, which would be a first rounder today. Also, Brees was so disappointing his first few years in the league that the Chargers used a Top 5 pick on Philip Rivers before he hit his stride. Then they let him leave as a free agent.
