Re: Player X v Player Y

Lake, Hayes, Cloke

or

Goddard, Smith, Zaharakis

I'm going guns and rookies this year - even though I think this year the midpricer strategy is viable. I want to take the midpricer's I think will become keepers - I think Hayes and Lake fit into this category. Just curious what others think...

I think they'd score pretty evenly, I guess the first option might need 0 upgrades but it also might need 2.. The second would only need one.

Dangerfield + 2 of Broughton/Heppell/Shaw

or

Chapman + Hargrave + 1 of Heppell/Shaw/Broughton

I currently have both Hayes & Lake. Still a few hours before final lockout so it may change.

My reasoning for starting Hayes over Swan this year is I figure Hayes will get back to close to his former scoring patterns (109 average) of 2009, 2010 much sooner than people think. Perhaps not 109, but 100-105 is not out of the question IMHO. The man's a warrior on the field and is priced at a heavily discounted 77 average when you consider that he only played 1 full game last year and averaged 109 the 2 previous years. The 220k price difference for the sake of 10-15ppg is too good to pass up. I plan to trade Hayes for Swan before Rd 13 the difference in price by then shouldn't be any more than 50-70k. Just keep a bit spare cash around and no need to do a double trade to get Swan after Collingwood's bye.
Probably will lose between 100-200 points in Swan's first 11 games, but I'll wear that for the extra 220k cash. It will come in very handy to upgrade my rookies before most other people.

As for Lake, no reason why he wont average 85+ again this year now that he's fit again. Keeper at a bargain price.

I really like Broughton Heppell and Shaw so I would go option 1. Probably Heppell and Shaw.

Pfeiffer or Hall?

I'm pretty much waiting to see if Pfeiffer makes the team, leaning towards Hall purely because of JS, but see Pfeiffer as maybe more consistent.

Pfieffer is an EMG so go Hall

Re: Player X v Player Y

Final 2 places in my squad up for grabs.

1) Wingard or Clay Smith

2) Aaron Hall or Smedts or Dickson

Would love to hear some thoughts.

1) Think they've both got similar risks, (JS, vest) so I'd go Smith just for the $
2) Reckon Hall and Dickson are both good options, think Dickson would be the safer pick though

Only just starting to consider Porps, IMO he only needs to play 6 or 7 games to do his job and could even become a 7th keeper

Lynch + Duffield + 30k
v
Porps + Duffield + 70k
v
Porps + Heppell

Re: Player X v Player Y

^^^^I'd go option 1 ^^^^

Pendlebury, Dangerfield

vs

Hayes, Cloke and $60K

Re: Player X v Player Y

Ok should i do this,

so i have mcdonald 98 as an emergency and magner on the field

Should i put pfeiffer in my midfield to get the 98 trade out magner and then put couch in my fowards?

goddard (95), smith (60), boyd(115), franklin (100) = 370
vs
lake(85), hayes(105), mitchell(110), cloke(100) = 400

Basically it's Lake + 2 not as preferred premiums to take Hayes instead of Smith.

I just don't know if I'm being overly optimistic for the second bunch. Thoughts?

Re: Player X v Player Y

Tossing up between Clay Smith and Ledger for my last midfield spot?

Thoughts/opinions

Got the exact same choice. I think Ledger is the go, purely because I think Smith has more chance of being vested in the coming weeks with the return of Griffen. In saying that, Smith is much cheaper than Ledger. It's a tough call
