Hope they do bring in Crowley. He was in career best form in 2013 but dropped away last year and has no footy under his belt in 2015. And whilst true he kept Mitchell to an unusually low amount of disposals in the GF it is a myth that he "beat" him. Mitchell played a very selfless game that day and instead of fighting Crowley he out smarted him by using him against his own teammates. Running lines at stoppages that caused Crowley to interfere with Fyfe and Mundy's run at the ball making it easier for our other mids to win the ball. Mitchell following other Freo players around in non-dangerous spaces giving us an extra around the ball. And at the end of the day Mitchell wore the premiership medallion.

Agreed I hope he plays.

He was pretty average in 2014. Playing Crowley also means they have 1 less ball winner in the middle.

I back Mitchell to beat Crowley after having 12 months off. Having said that, I dont think he will play.

Not so sure about that...

2015 QF - Eagles def Hawks by 32 points
Absolutely pantsed by a team without the reigning Brownlow Medalist. This is easily the most impressive performance by any team this year no question...

40-50 Clearances (Hawks way)
50-40 Inside 50's (Eagles way)
10-17 Marks Inside 50 (Eagles way)
85-59 Tackles (Hawks way)
19-26 Scoring Shots (Eagles way)

But Fremantle is no West Coast. They were lucky to get the chocolates against a decimated Sydney side missing Jack, Parker, Franklin and Reid (after quarter time)

2015 QF - Dockers def Swans by 9 points
42- 28 Clearances (Freo way)
41-53 Inside 50's (Swans way)
10-12 Marks Inside 50 (Swans way)
56-83 Tackles (Swans way)
19-25 Scoring Shots (Swans way)

The Swans were subsequently bullied by North in the Semi Final and went out in straight sets...

As for previous Subiaco visits...

2015 Rd 19 Hawks def Eagles by 14 points
Eagles were without Nic Nat, the Hawks without Lake
57-44 Clearances (Hawks way)
53-44 Inside 50's (Hawks way)
8-11 Marks Inside 50 (Eagles way)
68-101 Tackles (Hawks way)
23-19 Scoring Shots (Hawks way)

I find it strange how everyone talks about the infamous Fremantle pressure when Hawthorn time and again lay many more tackles than Fremantle in matches. But perhaps that just my bias

This game was probably the closest home and away game to finals like pressure...

Rd 21 2014 Dockers def Hawks by 19 points
Hawks went into this game without Roughead
59-38 Clearances (Hawks way)
38-52 Inside 50's (Dockers way)
11-10 Marks Inside 50 (Hawks way)
62-59 Tackles (Hawks way)
26-25 Scoring Shots (Hawks way)

Rd 2 2013 Hawks def Eagles by 50 points
41-51 Clearances (Eagles way)
62-37 Inside 50's (Hawks way)
11-12 Marks Inside 50 (Eagles way)
65-52 Tackles (Hawks way)
33-23 Scoring Shots (Hawks way)

2-2 over the last 3 years.

Dominated one game (rd 3 2013), up to our eye balls in two others (rd 21 2014 and rd 19 2015) and decimated in the last game we played there...

Looking at these stats do you know the thing that jumps at the page at me? Hawthorn was annihilated with Marks Inside 50.

This is a massive concern for Hawthorn (as 17 marks Inside 50 is well and truly ahead of league average) but really isnt a concern against a team that boasts Pavilch and a rag tag forward line

If we get through and play West Coast in the GF its an entirely different proposition altogether

Our record in recent seasons at Subiaco isnt too bad.

Won the key stats in 3 of our 4 matches at the venue over the past 3 seasons. I'm convinced that one of the challenges we faced when we played West Coast was containing their key forwards (17 marks Inside 50 is ridiculous and well and truly above league average)

Thats not much of a concern against Fremantle...

Peculiarly we've won the tackle count in all 4 games at the venue (in fact against the Dockers we've out tackled them in 8 of our last 10 games)

We've gone WLWL in our last 4 games in Perth. Guess what we're due for...

Did I hear correctly that the tactics guru Kingy suggested on telly last night that Crowley play to tag Smith? Is that bloke high? A guy who hasn't played for 12 months to tag an elite runner like Smith, gee I hope Ross the Boss goes for that I really do, no way he would be able to keep up on a consistent basis

Bwahahahhaha that is humour, King is almost King of the bell-ends only out-stripped by King Carey the dirty, stinking filthy, white anting, low-life piece of trailer trash...Smith is a running machine, here Crowley Crowley...woof!

@TravKing_AFL: Jack Gunston (ankle) not training with the Hawks this morning. Brian Lake (stomach) is out there with main group. #AFLFinals
No changes would hardly be the worst thing. Schoenmakers performed really well imo.

Nirvana Bar. Watched the Semi there with a house full of Crows ferals in their club jumpers and all. I was the only one there roaring with each goal scored was great fun watching their meltdown. Nice casual bar and make a great Aussie burger. Neil the owner an aussie is a Scum supporter.

Or there's the Adrenaline Bar up the street at Seminyak Square, altho not quite as good

Adrenaline Bar isn't too bad to watch a game from, but sound was an issue the 1 game I saw there.
(so was the result...)

Did anyone else hear that flog of flogs Stevo on Game Day yesterday saying that he wanted Freo to win the flag BECAUSE ROSS LYON DESERVED ONE?!?!?
Newsflash, dickhead - these things ARE NOT just handed out because YOU think someone deserves it - like respect, IT HAS TO BE EARNED!
Rant over!

If I was the Freo player who missed out for a guy who has not played all year and who was banned for 12 months after taking a prohibited painkiller I would not be too happy.

Training will not have been an issue as he has been allowed to train for the last 4 months.

Can't understand why others want him to play, forget what he "has" done, consider what he can do after 2 weeks of none training and staring at the walls in the rehab room.
The other consideration is he looked to injure himself in the Carlton game (loosen the ligaments so to speak), played against West Coast and potentially escalated an underlying injury from the Carlton game.

Gunston needs to talk to Guerra about acceptance and humility.
If your not right Jack, your not right, selfish tenancies like ego's are to be left at the door.

Thats all fair enough but he has every right to try and get up for the game. We are a better team with him in it, as long as he is fit.
In the end, its up to the medicos and coaches. I have no issue with Smith playing against freo...he played crap, his knee wasnt the issue.
If Gunston plays, its because he is ready to go.

This is a do or die game. There is no next week for the loser here. It's worth rolling the dice even if Gunston isn't 100% fit, he should play, especially if McPharlin doesn't come up for Fremantle. This could be an area where we have an edge over the Dockers.
