Looks like I've already gone down a rabbit hole with Auerbach. Real similarities between his Head Of J.Y.M. and the cover of the live album by Japan, Oil On Canvas.
The paintings in real life are very different to seeing them on a screen. He was a very influential painters painter, I love the fact that he went into the studio 7 days a week and only took one day off a year.

Yeah, that's true artistic focus.

Apropos of very little, did you know Robert Hughes?

Never met him but Robert Hughes was obligatory reading back in Art School.
'Shock Of The New was one of the text books and of course his Art reviews.

Yes. Shock Of The New was something that I read portions of in my early 20s. Should read it properly again.

Interestingly with the banned books in the US, the youngest offspring has been quite keen to read them now. I realised how many I had on my shelves and then decided it's time to reread some. So, starting tonight I'm reading Fahrenheit 451.

Last of the 3 articles shared today.
Interesting from the point of 'selling the influencer'.
To me that the rapid cycling of ev-de-volution is the interesting part.
All just 'selling it' really.

The never ending cycle of having to feed the beast. The beast resembles Ouroboros.

And also reading material:

His lyrics were both everything that's right and wrong with prog-rock. Lizard is my least favourite King Crimson album and the lyrics on that are often hilariously pompous.

But what a career. For a ten or so year period at the forefront of a musical movement and then to a level of obscurity.

We should all be so lucky.

Vale.

In Berlin. Staying in the Mitte District. Getting fit from all the walking.
Tony taught me Art History and painting in 1979 at Prahran.
He's the guy that gave me a pass/ fail mid year because my essays were not the formal kind but creative writing.
He was a slack teacher aside from his reliance of formal essay writing.
We watched Les Enfants du Paradise for one class..he set it up and left.

Enjoy Berlin.

Hi from Greece, the Land of Cats. They are everywhere in Athens and Naxos, where we are at the minute. The Naxian cats look healthier and are friendlier because people take care of them. As one local explained to me, they don’t have a problem with rats, so the view is the cats are earning their keep.

Visited Demeter’s Temple yesterday, which was cool and clambered a fair way up Mount Zas to find the cave where Zeus grew up in hiding from Kronos. After a fairly strenuous climb, the path had collapsed just before the cave, so I didn’t make it. No wonder Kronos couldn’t find him.
