Cornes is in. Quoted from this morning on SEN.

“Be afraid, they’re good enough to win it all” and “they’ll win two of the next five”.

To be fair to Cornes he called this before the season too.

ALL of the Vic media cannot heap more praise on Matt “The Bull” Rowell after that performance. He is probably in our top 3 most important players. As a club I’d be taking to his Manager and offering him $1million + for multiple years. Even though our midfield of Rowell, Anderson, Miller, Humphrey, Graham etc is probably one of the best in the AFL, WE CANNOT LOSE MATT ROWELL. 🙏🤘🤘❤️💛☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
Rowelly ($10) is currently the second favourite to win the Brownlow behind Nick Daicos ($6). What an unbelievable start he has had to the season. Imagine how massive the Collingwood game at PFS is going to be later this year if Rowell and Daicos are still sitting top 2 for the Brownlow favourites.

Vic media at it again. The day he re-signs will be a great day for the Gold Coast

Hope it’s a Mac Andrew type deal as well, shut em up for good.

Kings [emoji638] games into his latest deal and he is already on pre-agent target lists

He predicts suns to pass 35k members this year

Former Gold Coast Suns President, Tony Cochrane | Sportsday SA

35k members in 2025?!?! That's a huge jump from the 26k members we saw last year. If we sold out half our home games at Carrara last year, then I get the feeling we're going to see even more sell outs this year with that kind of membership growth. If that happens then we have to seriously start looking into expanding our stadium (as flagged by our admin last year) to 40k by filling in the the open end and installing the necessary overpassing bridges to improve the flow of people in and out of the stadium (see below). The additions of a hotel with restaurants/bars on the lakes + a women's stadium would be nice additions to the precinct as well. Anyway, it's amazing how quickly things can change when you start winning and it looks like we're on the fast track for mega growth over the next few years!

Wasn't sure where to put this post so I just went with this thread. With all this media talk of State of Origin returning in the preseason next year, it got me wondering how many of our players would end up participating if it's true that all states + the NT will get to participate. These are the players that I think get selected for their respective state teams from our current list:

Victoria
Matt Rowell
Noah Anderson
Ben King
Touk Miller (maybe)
Mac Andrew (maybe)

South Australia
Charlie Ballard
John Noble

Queensland
Jed Walter
Ethan Read
Jake Rogers
Will Graham
Bodhi Uwland
Leo Lombard
Alex Davies (maybe)

New South Wales
Jarrod Witts

Northern Territory
Dan Rioli
Ben Long
Joel Jeffrey
Malcolm Rosas
Lloyd Johnston

Tasmania
Lachie Weller (might be QLD eligible)

It's probably not a stretch to suggest Zeke Uwland will likely get picked to play for Queensland as well (before even playing an AFL game!) so we're staring down the barrel of around 20 of our players getting picked to play State of Origin in the preseason next year. Basically give us a reason to watch all SoO games because there should be at least one of our players participating in every game.

I think they typically consider state of Origin where players were drafted from not where they were born? Ashcroft brothers likely end up Victoria.

Amazing.
Not a bad team hey!

It's probably stronger than most people think it would be and it's only going to get better as the two QLD academies produce more high level talent. I like our chances of beating New South Wales in the promotion game and the Maroons getting elevated into Div I in 2027/28 season when we'll play one of the big states in Victoria, South Australia or Western Australia. That'd be a fantastic opportunity for our recently drafted academy boys to pull on the Queensland jumper and face the might of the traditional powerhouse states in State of Origin footy.

As we know from the rugby league version of SoO, Queenslanders love being the underdog in these types of competitions and I wouldn't put it past us to pull off an upset against SA or WA. If the two Queensland academies keep producing high level talent over the next few years then we could legitimately match it with Victoria one day. That'd be the dream scenario.
