In a moving ceremony outside the Stadium in the Sky, the crowd erupted as a life sized bronze statue of club legend Matera92 was unveiled. Commissioned by the prestigious (and probably slightly shady) firm of Pawly Represented, the statue was created in honour of his 350th game and captures The King mid-banana from the boundary, cape caught in an eternal gust, eyes fixed on goal. Spectators were left in awe, unsure whether to cheer or bow, as pigeons prepared the traditional aerial salute.

On the road again, the Bears packed their bags, laced up the boots, and took the show out of Vegas for a clash with the Old Boys on their turf. It was a special day too, with the great Matera92 notching up game number 350 for the Bears, an incredible milestone from one of the most reliable campaigners to ever pull on the guernsey. You would struggle to find a Bear who hasn’t carried Matera sometime during their career been carried by Matera’s consistency at some point in their career.

Early on, it was a see-sawing affair, by which we mean the Old Boys hopped on briefly before we launched them clean off the playground equipment. Both sides traded goals early, but a burst midway through the first quarter saw the Bears take control. Art Vandelay_ was particularly influential in the forward line, kicking 2 goals, and Millky95 continued his strong form.

A 7 goal 2nd quarter saw the lead extend significantly, with Shadow Man, MWPP, Millky95, Ocha905 and MKMatty all hitting the scoreboard with a goal, while Art added another 2 for the term. The midfield group found plenty of the ball and the defence held up well under pressure.

The third quarter was more of the same, as Test Tickle and Matty got amongst the goals, and Grin made sure the scoreboard kept ticking. At one point we got out to a 68 point lead when MWPP kicked her 2nd, which caused the goal umpire to ask for ice because he was getting pains in his hands from signaling all our goals.

The final quarter saw us peppering the goals, but Art's radar was off, kicking 1.3 while the team kicked 2.7 for the quarter. But the result had long been sorted. A big 59 point win away from home, a milestone celebrated in style, and a statement made. We’re still sitting pretty on top of the ladder, and now we turn our attention to the Bye.

No doubt it will be a fierce contest against the ladder's most evasive opponent. Historically, we've struggled to lay a tackle on them.

Chipmunk was busy as ever with 24 touches and 10 marks. SSSSSS matched the 24 disposals, while Millky95 continued to lay down the law with 21 possessions and a massive 12 tackles. I Dont Care did his bit in the ruck with 21 disposals and 12 hitouts, getting involved all around the ground.

Matera92 made a special milestone appearance on the wing and didn’t disappoint, picking up 19 touches in a typically composed performance. MWPP added 18 disposals to go with her scoreboard impact, and RookiePick found plenty of it too with 17. Art Vandelay_ had just the 10 kicks, but every single one was a scoring shot.

Up forward, Art was the headline act with 6 goals, delivering a big performance for his good mate Matera. MWPP, Millky95, Matty and Shadow Man all kicked 2 each, while Chipmunk, Grin, Kane, Ocha905, Spinynorman and Test Tickle added one apiece to round out a strong team effort in front of goal.

A warm weather game actually meant we got a few more touches of the ball this week so some averages have gone up, probably not enough to help our chances of getting someone into the All-SFA team for this season though.
