Yeah sure, if they can contribute and it's worth it in the long term
Neale had a huge finals series on one leg
Not sure it was worth Fyfe, Cripps and de Goey playing with those injuries though, nothing was gained
But to go out there and do nothing and say "hey I was injured", then play again...
Didn't Nat Fyfe once play with a broken leg? PatrickCripps with a fractured spine? Degoey with OP this year?
You really gonna try tell us AFL players never play hurt?
All I see is a fluff piece by the AFL website.
I'm learning extremely quickly why people consider you the dunce of the Adelaide forum.
Your opinions are quality reading, that is before you change them multiple times. Fresh air must be in short supply in your neck of the woods.
Both fair points, guess we'll see how it plays out. Also have to think, if Carlton can match an offer... Who's actually paying the draft picks he'd cost in a trade? Can't see anyone stumping up that steep of a price.
...Tom Mitchell has quietly already retired, will have a miraculously fast recovery, but plans on joining Carlton in the mid-season draft and go on to break PatrickCripps’ brownlow medal votes in half a season. He’ll also win the Normie and take them to outright first on the flags leaderboard.
...season since 2000. The only other team in that boat is North (1999) Gold Coast (never from 2011 onward). Essendon had their last in 2001.
Winning 12, 13, 13 games in successive seasons isn't luck. Carlton are alright but if PatrickCripps reverts back to human levels the Blues won't play finals.
I think there is greater issues in both SA and WA about Jr Development resources.
The SANFL and WAFL are expected to fund and execute Jr development in both SA and WA, with the minimal resources they have. On the other hand, the AFL pumps millions into the development of Victorian kids. Imagine...
I was going to give you a Like after the second sentence, but thank you for this comprehensive write-up - it was a lovely palette cleanser after the awful masochistic nostalgia of this last few hours.
King of everything. Great effort and appreciate the time with this you champion. Can we now get back to Raph Clarke in minute 1, 2009?
Hastie is a really interesting one. I feel like he was drafted / seen as an attractive proposition for his elite speed / dancing steps and his intercepting...
OK, a very long read with the annual pre Christmas preseasons for each player. Hopefully this stops the grand final masochism.

1.Jack Higgins – Not much...
Of the teams that played finals, Carlton (112 games avg) were more experienced than:
Port (107)
Hawks (108)
And older (26yr 5mo) than:
Hawks (25y 6)
Port (25y 10)
GWS (26y 3)
Sydney (26y 4)
on par with Brisbane (26y 5)
...or that impressive. 12, 13, 13, wins is a pretty accurate reflection of where Carlton are at.
2024 John Nicholls Medal top 10
1. PatrickCripps - 204 votes (30 in 2025)
2. Nic Newman - 148 (32)
3. Sam Walsh - 147 (25)
4. Jacob Weitering - 144 (28)
5. George Hewett - 141 (30)
6. Blake Acres -...
...and the Coleman medalist coming from Western Australia.
Didn’t get the Norm this year but the year before was WA.
Brownlow medalist in the last 20 years
Nat Fyfe x2
PatrickCripps x2
Matt Priddis

Tom Mitchell (sort of)
Coleman Medalist
Josh Kennedy x2
Buddy Franklin x4
Jesse Hogan
...some fantastic football over the last two years.
A “crazy Baggers fan” who looks up to the likes of Mimi Hill, Abbie McKay and PatrickCripps, Hargreaves has built her own following as a strong inside midfielder with versatility to play off flanks as well. The Northern Knights top-ager...
He's got a point. Loads of United come in, get talked up as superstars rather than promising kids and then disappear.
Kieron Richardson, Janusaz, Lingard, Mainoo, Garnacho. Only takes a good half dozen games and I don't think it's great for their development.
