...in 2016 for picks 48, 66 and 70 (Macreadie, Williamson and Kerr). The Hawks needed a future 2nd to go with their pick 10 to get Jaeger O'Meara. The future 2nd ended with GWS who used it on Oscar Claverino with pick 33. So in effect we traded pick 33 in 2017 for picks 48, 66 and 70 in 2016...
I think it is more about what he values, which quite rightly isn’t what most fans value.
He wants leadership, experience and players who stick to their role. He also likes players who can play multiple positions.
Keep in mind it may also be driven by the line coaches, I’m sure they have a...
The list and age profile is quite balanced now and we have quite a bit of young talent that we have drafted the past 3-4 years, 1 year of not drafting top tier talent isn't the end of the world. We got Jai Newcombe from the MSD and he is a star. Were doing very well getting talent through the...
West Coast has to hint they want the player as well mate.
Bennell, Hamling, Kersten, Conca, Wilson... the list goes on.
It goes both way, West Coast are a successful club because we try to bring top players in. Freo just take anyone who wants to come back to WA.
Why cant you just accept...

Oh yeah… What else is new?
Every single year since 2016, the brain scientists on Big Footy have been saying “the Hawks will finish in the bottom 4 next year”
Interesting to note we’ve finished in the bottom 4 only twice in the past decade
2020: 5 wins, 12 losses
The Covid season...
Hawthorn didn't want them though, and gave them away for nothing. They had little to no value.
Richmond are going to get multiple first round picks for Rioli and Bolton. Both of them have tremendous value right now.
Tom Mitchell and Jaeger O’Meara were both contracted, and traded for draft picks rather than being held to their contract.
Richmond are doing the exact same thing with Rioli and Bolton.
This article is from Jake Niall. Agree or not, it's his opinion.

This feels generous from the Crows. Unusual to see a deal done so quickly that's generous like this.
Good post on the Adelaide board about similar deals.
Yes
At his age the general value is a 3rd rounder. Small premium on top if you're a key position player.
Not all of these players were contracted to be fair, and some weren't exactly wanted players by their origin club. But it doesn't seem like Melbourne are putting any roadblocks in place to...
Would spew if it was Jaeger, he went to Freo for not much more than peanuts and has done nothing.
Maybe someone with a back ended deal that would be worth at least a second otherwise? Not sure Freo is over paying anyone atm... why not Kelly at eagles?

Cerra had just come off his best season (3rd in B&F, 5 Brownlow votes) and was on a steadily improving trajectory. Also not post-injury.
I assume you mean the trade to Hawthorn? This is a pretty good example. I can't remember the circumstances around it well so this one checks out.
Using draft...
...as any other 20th best available player in a year that there's zero academy and father son-prospects.
Its like how in 2012 because Jaeger O'Meara was taken out of the draft pool, while the likes of O'Rouke, Plowman and Toumpas were "bad" picks 2, 3 and 4, in some ways it's less so because...

Never forget that a midfield consisting of Jaeger O'Meara and Tom Mitchell and coached by Robery Harvey was absolutely putrid, while a midfield of Jai Newcombe, Will Day, Connor Nash and James Worpel coached by David Hale has basically been elite since day 1.

In the spirit of players with a couple of years of contract requesting a trade, excluding those who recently extended, which of these players will be asking to leave?
Jaeger O'Meara
Will Brodie
Michael Frederick
Sam Switkowski
Matthew Johnson
...up in a bit of hubris as to whether they believe they can "fix" said player.
However reality is there's only a few rare examples ie Jaeger O'Meara would be one who was constantly injured at Gold Coast (knee mainly) but was largely "fixed" by the Hawks (interestingly when Russell was there)...
