I think you are right, would be nothing better than getting in Pickett and Bolton, but, more likely we will end up with just Bolton or as planned Bolton and Baker. Surely, Melbourne is going to go all out to stop the bleeding from their team (unlike Richmond who appear to be on the rebuild) and...
Very strange, I would have thought that players who are genuinely injured most of the year would have priority (but not best 23 players) to play.
Kuek’s chances of a contract extension with Freo might just have been extinguished by the WAFL. A strong finals performance may have helped.
Pity...
Actually, in the bits I watched, I was more impressed by Odin Jones, he is a very strong boy and coming on really strong after some concussion issues. Seems to be a versatile key position player.
Agree with all that, just not the commentary that makes out Hughes is a complete liability, even when he has shown himself to be insanely brave in the contest, the original hard as a cats head (also best clubman several times). I also hope to keep our best team in but I will not ‘vomit’ if...
No need to be like that, your carry on would make you think Hughes has never played a decent game for Freo. He has played plenty, sure I see more in Draper’s and Chapman’s potential but Hughes has played plenty of crucial games In defence. Chapman is also currently making plenty of mistakes...
Probably what is worse is that his run down tackles were a highlight of his game. We get better pressure from our talls than Freddy. Seems the smalls are leaving to Sam to do now. I guess it could be a role change but would love to see a Freddy tackle again.
A very tough preseason and poor start to the season for JOM but with the amount of quick players around him his composure and skills are very valuable to the team. Has filled some real problems for Freo on the wing, defense and even forward, not bad versatility when you think about it.
How so?
We clearly have two players in Aish and Fyfe going below their best at the moment but only one could be sub.
I think we need the experience of Fyfe in the midfield more than Aish in the backline today ( it’s where we have to dominate to have a chance), so I believe we have...
Richmond will potentially have a lot of their better players back by then, but I do also fancy Port's chances against St Kilda (who could not be going worse at the moment) and Brisbane at home.
Some of these should be offered contracts over the bye, my guess:
Banfield - 2 years
Wagner - 1 year
Voss - 2 years (based on Taberner not getting a contract)
Reidy or Knobel - 2 years
Tom Emmett - 2 years
The rest are not guaranteed at all and will depend on how far we are cutting.
I agree Sonny won’t be dropped (Emmett far more likely). However, I am not as optimistic about Sonny embracing the occasion this week, why would it be more important to him than the last two weeks?
I hope to see some more Sonny brilliance but there is no denying the cliff is coming quickly...
My Port supporting mate reckons they have a very hard road home and still no certainty for the eight. I would be more optimistic than him because they have a great midfield.
I don’t know, he is not playing a Marshall type ruckman. He is playing against the Collingwood ruck which are also not quick or get large possession numbers. Plus we have Jackson.
I welcome back Darcy’s marking ability around the ground, especially as no other player seems capable of taking a...
Yes, but his accuracy took several years to become acceptable (ok this year excellent).
So, technique always looked good, so was the change confidence or the mental application work they do now?
It’s not charity to give our best player for two weeks at Peel a proper run in the seniors. It’s another Freo tragedy if we miss out on a talent without giving them a decent go in the seniors when there are players who are not performing.
Here is another opinion.
If we don’t give a young talented player in Erasmus an extended run in the seniors shortly, especially when he has been bog for two games in a row, Fremantle are the joke that some would say we are, because he will leave and the chances are he will be a bloody good...
Yes that is the usual scenario and I thought they would take Hughes just in case.
But on this occasion it looks like the kid cramped (probably never had this before) and club being cautious took him straight off. Nothing showed on the scan and he was sprinting, jumping and tackling at Thursdays...
