The most absurd situation was when a married couple just didn't want to be with each other, they often felt the need to get elaborate.

This sometimes involved hiring a prostitute and private detective, then 'catching' infidelity to ease the process.

Family Law Act is good legislation but pitiful entertainment.

You can't beat an interesting divorce. It's high on my priority list.

It's all been down hill since 75. I miss simpler times when you could get pissed and then drive your car to the court to watch some interesting divorce.

IIRC they used to publish a summary in the paper of divorces granted - available sub headings:
decree nisi - decree absolute

accompanied by salacious descriptions including "adultery"
