Hadn't heard of Zac Strom... looks a good prospect, and like the name. (But be careful when googling name, otherwise you will get sucked into the Seven Seas of the Bermuda Triangle...)

He is 28, more a KPP at either end, who can chopout in the ruck. Has AFL levels of endurance

Guess TDK gets the same treatment English did with the Doggies. Expect him to get monstered most weeks but hopefully it helps him in the medium term.

Any mature and exceedingly capable rucks in the state leagues we could look at in the mid season draft? Gotta think they'd need a few weeks training with the group before you could really consider them for senior duties. Draft in the week leading up to R12 (our bye), so best case scenario we can roll out a mature age ruckman in R14? Only 6 games we have to somehow navigate before we might get some proper relief.

Yeap spot on, but the issue was that it was in preparation for the SSP period, but can still nominate before the midseason draft
Will stand corrected but my understanding is you need to have nominated for the previous ND to be eligible for the MSD which is why Mumford nominated, in case GWS needed a top-up.

One thing I think important about whomever may get picked as a tall, and that is they need to be ready to go asap (note, it'sjustmy opinion). Would the Ramsden, Hilder types would fit the bill? I'm not sure, as they still seem to me to be more in the type of young developing talls...
100%. We need to bring in a #1 ruck to fill in while Pitto is out.
Ex-AFL or an overlooked guy who is playing senior state footy.
Probably in the 25-30 age range.
Keep an eye on the upcoming SA v WA interstate squads plus the VFL.

Liam Jones to ruck...... ;)

I'd be trying to add Ed to the LTI list and go into the mid-season draft with two selections:

1. Connor Ballenden - 23 yo, brute of a ruckman who throws his weight around and takes a good contested grab, 2m tall

2. Noah Pegoraro - 24 yo, WAFL KPD, athletic with neat skills, achieved top three results in the 20-metre sprint and two jumping tests. Reminds me of Jarrod Brennan (and a bit of Liam Jones) with his leap and spoiling.

Wanted Ballenden as an SSP/delisted FA and still keen

Sorry about Pittonet. It's time for TDK to shine.

Post this line onto Lions board and wait for the response. Ballenden is hopeless in the ruck - easily to be pushed over, soft in contest. Yes, he can mark.

Suns lost 4 ruck options last year and were looking for mature ruck in MSD. Slim picking, in the end they considered Michael Knoll (ex Sydney) and Corey Gault (ex-Collingwood). Knoll failed medical (surprise, suprise - PCL issues) and decided to go with future in Moyle.

Had me at brute….

I have a feeling, Ballenden was ruck for Lions in the one reserve game I attended in person last year.
We were about 14 goals at quarter time mainly due to Mirkov dominating in the ruck and on the back of that, Mirkov was grabbed in last year's mid-season rookie draft, but not for the present. Picked for the long term future. Mirkov very young and raw so if he was able to take Ballenden to cleaners in that match, I do not think Ballenden is right choice for us. We need some mature bodied ruck that can play this season, not another youngster ruck. He was de-listed by Lions so does not make a lot of sense to draft him in mid-season rookie unless there simply is no 27 to 34 year old options out there.

What's Nathan Vardy doing down in Warrnambool?

This is where talk of future mid season trade period could make more sense in future for situations like this.
Some clubs not in contention might be willing to trade their veteran ruck.
If McEvoy was not injured Hawks maybe do a trade or North with Goldstein.
Here is an end of season 3rd round draft pick for your veteran ruck...
