that's isn't what the quoted rules say, is it
I have no idea where that ‘quote’ is from, but it’s not correct.

Hopefully that is the case. I googled it and that was what I found. This isn’t true. Compo is tied to your finishing position, not whatever picks you hold.
Personally I think we can still get back to being very competitive while Cripps is around…we should do everything possible to achieve thatWe don’t have a 1st round pick this year but I imagine we will trade back into the first round knowing that Cody Walker is coming in 2026.
We get an opportunity for a mini reset, Jagga Smith, & Cody Walker will lead our midfield for the next 10+ years, it’s not all doom and gloom but time just may run out for Cripps.

Hopefully, although I actually think Crippa has improved his kicking heaps, prob more decision making and taking the right option but I am no longer worried when he is kicking the ball.. bizarrely its now Walsh that I worry about.Personally I think we can still get back to being very competitive while Cripps is around…we should do everything possible to achieve that
Get a good coach in for a start
Trade a few players in/out to balance out list a bit better
Cripps learns to focus on being in beast mode ball extractor and dishing out handballs to better outside ball users (no kicking allowed for Cripps unless small chips) - must hit a target
Forwards MUST lead to the ball and into space - if not they immediately get dragged and educated on it
Also ball carriers MUST not dump kick anywhere and certainly not into f50.
Watch how things change quickly.
Only if we're willing to offload our more valuable players. Can't see the Cotts, Motlops, Fogs or Kemp's of this world generating much capital.Could almost cut and paste the same thing over the last 5 years

I believe this will be our busiest off season in some time, and it really needs to be

Trade charlie to then. We aren't winning a flag with this group. I don't mind starting again from scratch as we are so far off it. Get them kids before Tassie takes a hold.
Richmond will be killing it in 2-3 years

At this point I'm not even sure if this is a serious comment. If it is....I must be watching a different teamFar too early to be writing off Doc but would rather he find touch and form in the VFL
Trade
Harry top 10 pick
Walsh top 10 pick
Cez top 20 pick
Elijah top 30 pick
Kemp top 40 pick
If TDK goes that's another top 5 pick
Replenish these guys with kids with pace and foot skills.
Delist
Cottrell
Gov
Williams
Fanta
Young
Retire Doc
That's just off the top of my head

If Acres gets back to form he'd be around that mark imo. Gov fair enough, as for trading for a ruck. Pitto and Skull O'Keefe would have to do for the time being unless there was a cheap pick up in the ruck merry go round.
Anyway it's all just fun and games, personally I really hope we find a way to keep TDK and make the moves we need to as well.
Is this plan so we can finish last next year?
That way, we take a player with pick 1, then match the bid for Cody... We'll get the 2 best players in the draft...
It's not the worst outcome, will not be popular, but honestly I wouldn't mind it.
As much as I'd hate for us to bottom out and collect another wooden spoon, need to think long term. It's obvious this playing group won't win a flag. Hawks have our first two picks this year.
Might as well start the fire sale while we can...
These guys ive listed for trade are the only ones with currency that are expendable. If we are looking for kids with pace....something gotta give else we are treading water. At the same time it might help our salary cap.We are stuck with Cotttell, Williams and young whether we like it or not as their contracts go beyond this year.
Doc will retire, Gov won’t be offered another contract, same with Fantasia.
As for the others:
Harry - long contract, doubt anyone takes the gamble or offers us anything we’d consider worth it
Walsh - out of contract end of next year, with his current performances we prob sign him for less than what he would have gotten say end of 2023 or even middle 2024. If we let him go probably be a selling low situation when we know how good he can be. So keep unless someone offers stupid overs or he wants too much money.
Cez - been good this year, not going anywhere. Long contract
Elijah - upside bigger than what a club would pay for him. Keep unless someone offers something silly or he wants a stupidly big contract end of 2026.
Kemp - offer him a standard contract don’t deviate and if he doesn’t like it, let him go. Out of contract end of 2025.
Yes, but also going to the bottom doesn’t automatically = flags. We should know this by now.
We have assets to play with, we don’t need to do a Richmond.
If it's not we're absolutely screwed imo. Think it's a very fixable situation in 1-2 off seasons though.Could almost cut and paste the same thing over the last 5 years

Unfortunately we're in a situation where we will have to lose some to get some. If Acres went out for Fonti I'd be moe than happy to take that gamble long term.Getting rid of acres is way premature, he’s had pre season back surgery, he’s been great for us, always puts in. We have like no good wingman apart from him.

Others won't see the same and that's fine. Not going to be up in arms if we kept Acres though, he busts his ass every match.
More so the picks as not many others would have much value if we're not moving any big names. Someone like GWS would love Acres for a few years when Ward finishes up this year and Kingsley has personally spoken how much he respects a player of his calibre.Acres isn’t on much cash though, I couldn’t see the point in letting him go.
