Anyone else flying over for this?
Last time I was over there was for a day night ashes, so don't remember a whole lot.

Can anyone recommend good places to eat/drink ect; or even some cool stuff to do in between?
I am driving over for it. 1st time in adelaide. Looking forward to it

You have to be careful to follow the signs because Adelaide is easy to miss. I suggest you avoid banks, especially if they have barrels in them. Don't take your children to the cricket or the beach. If you see a bloke lying on the beach in a suit, appearing to be asleep, leave him alone. Being part of a police investigation can ruin a holiday. Follow these rules and you will be fine.

Driving 9 hours on Friday. Hence my nervousness at the result, because this is also the only game we could get tickets to haha.

I'm a brewery fiend, so I have plenty of those types of recommendations if that's up your alley.

Also depending on your tastes/interests, but the best Pizza I've had was at Sunny's in Solomon St. They had a baked gnocchi that literally changed my life. I now make my own version every Friday night before a game.

We're also planning on hitting up the Norwood Food and Wine festival on the Sunday which always gets great reviews

The way the team goes about it nearly every week it is a different player that takes over the game which makes it hard for any player to be ranked top 10. Against Carlton, it was Newcombe and Battle. Against Essendon it was the likes of Amon and Moore

You had me at brewery, please any suggestions.
I was looking at that Food and Wine festival too

For those coming over;

The Strathmore Hotel on North Terrace (opposite the railway station) has always been a bit of a hangout for Hawthorn folk. It was beautiful prior to the final last year as it was pretty much wall to wall Hawthorn supporters, to the point that the few port fans were completely bewildered that they were outnumbered on their own patch.

Anyway, I'll be there from about 3.30 next Sunday.

Haha.

Big Shed is great. We enjoyed an all you can BBQ feast last year on the Sunday, which I believe they do every week.
They also brew the Boozey Fruit and Golden Stout Time, which are two of the best 'novelty' core range beers anywhere in Australia.

Shapeshifter is super underrated. They make great beers and offer a pretty relaxing environment to enjoy a tasting paddle and a couple of pints.

Pirate Life isn't independent anymore, but the brewery itself is super impressive. They have a fantastic range too, for drinkers of all varieties.

Haven't been out to Six Twelve, but they have a full arcade set up to go along with a really delicious core range of beers.

We'll be checking out Bowden and potentially Brightstar on this trip as well. They're a bit more central than all the others as well.

You know Adelaide more than most locals. Nice work.

Bowden is very good. Great little spot, there's a few eateries around there that are worthwhile too.

Few decent restaurants if you venture down O'Connell Street- Tony Tomatoes, Gin Long Canteen off the top of my head are good. Cathedral Hotel pretty nice too up in the beer garden.

Strathmore is solid, always busy. The East End of the city is really nice, places like NOLA or The Stag are good but are starting to be a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of Gather Round.

I'll post anything else if I think of it. Great rec on Sunny's Pizza, there is a cocktail joint next door I think (may be shut these days) that is ripping too. For piss you're best heading down Peel Street, Bank Street or Leigh Street. All three have good bars and you can pretty much pick whichever one looks good to you.

I was there for the final and enjoyed that outdoor Coopers Bar on the river just across from the ground. Coopers on tap is always a highlight of any trip to Adelaide.

Someone once said the only thing better than winning is to win arrogantly. Should we rest a heap of players after the bye against port?
Ins: Reeves Hustwaite Serong frost Mitchell
Out: Meek Nash Battle Barrass Impey
😂
That would still be a solid team tbh.

Some Saturday morning reading to pass the time 🤎💛
Nailed it!

Development is our biggest strength under Sam and his staff. It's something that isn't highlighted enough in the media. Geelong probably our only serious challengers in this aspect.

Full strength for me. Total obliteration is the bare minimum required. Nothing other than brown and gold in the stands by half time.

Good afternoon ladies and gents. Come take a trip with me if you please. Lets go. Lets go back in time to this morning.
Cold wintery day. Freezing wind chill factor. Bunjil Bagora formerly known as VFL park. Todays conditions remind us all of the good old days down here.

The big news and the big event was scheduled for the morning. Australia vs Australia A Hawthorn vs Hawthorn A in a titanic tussle looking like a rather poor crowd to witness the spectacle. A few track watchers and kids from a School in Cairns. The AFL had to take action and they were swift with their response. They and Hawthorn have held a press conference to inform everyone that this same game will be scheduled for Dingley next year. More of the game later. A few box hill boys in attendance to fill in the gaps for Hawthorn A

No Shows: None, Zilch, Nada

Rehab:

Will McCabe: Looks to be sore from the box hill game and there is no hurry on his recovery.

Croc: In his running shoes holding his footy boots Running on the far side similar to Worps last week. Still on track to play next week IMO. Came back upstairs wearing his footy boots

Scrimshaw: Who did the warm up but didn't do skills just running on the far side.

Box hill boy don't know who sorry
Everyone else in training. Finn doing his kicking drill with an assistant coach. Then i witnessed a couple of track watchers getting edgy and excited as both Dear and Lewis joined the warm up. Worps was also there and is certain the play next week. He also did all the skills and then sat out the match sims. It was cold out in the stands but things were definitely heating up as Dear and Lewis who we expected to wander off into the distance to join Croc instead joined the rest of the group in skills. Dear and Lewis both kicking and handpassing with the boys then joining in Handball drills with pressure and the drills in marking contest opposed to defenders. Both pushing and shoving their opponents as the ball was coming in involved in drill fully. I nearly jumped out of my seat as dear near took a hanger. Full ground kicking transition drills were followed by some handball transition drills and goal kicking. Lewis looking BIG and fit and running on top of the ground. My mouth was open i felt a bit of saliva escape my lips.

They then broke into three groups Gold White and Green for across the ground intra. Lewis and Dear did not take part in the intras as expected They started doing some contested marking drills with Watson and Finn. In one such marking contest Finn took the front position and knocked the ball away. This seemed to anger Mitch who then proceeded to fling him out of the way with one hand woooaaahhhh. Anyways back to the cross ground intra.

Some of the players that stood out from the intra. CJ his defensive coverage and run. Three marking contest he came in 3rd man and literally BASHED the ball away. Blanky taking a leaf out of CJs book also had some good intercept spoils playing on Dimma who led. As you know Dimma is pretty bloody good but blanky covered and took a mark over him by out positioning him even though Dimma initially was in prime position to take the mark with the ball kicked to his advantage. Some really encouraging signs for the kid.

Battle and Barrass connected a couple of times where Battle took off and Barrass was able to find him on his left. Weddle was prominent. So was Day and Frenchie. Punk and gunner like Jim and Phil (An old reference) can't help but find each other in space. It was good to see Butler join in trainining looking to play down in Geelong had a great run down tackle of ward showed good speed.

They then all joined storm in the middle of the ground and he showed them the board it was time for the Hawks vs Hawks A. Gold team vs White team. There was actually no discerning the two sides. Newk, Ward, Nash, Finn and Frenchie
in the white and several others. Gold side had Battle Sic Mass Ginni etc.

They played two short qtrs there were no umpires. Sam was the umpire and he made some puzzling decisions at times. Where he called a free kick to player not involed in any contest or a boundary line throw him when the ball was in possession of a player. He should stick to coaching won't make it as an umpire lol

Couple real bursts from the middle of the ground by newk. Some great kicking by Mass and some good marks by Ramma who was playing on Blank. He was running around a lot and had a great time inside 50 for gold. Ginni had a good game up forward and Breust and gunners used their experience. Gunners so important pointing and vocalising where his forwards should be.

Meanwhile i am watching around the ground i can see Scrim and Watson join Lewis for 200m sprints on the far side. Lewis leading them around. Looks in ripping shape with both Scrim and Watson trying hard to keep up behind him
Worps did his own running. The boys finished up soon after and did some running to warm down followed by some kick to kick and goal kicking. I am still on a high having seen Lewis and Dear involved today.

I can't think of much else. Till next time go you mighty hawks.

Praise the Lord. A glorious sermon TFP. CAN NOT WAIT to see Lewis out there. Thank you.
