Historically the main concern with running your star players through the reserves was that some Saturday plodder would try and manufacture a pathetic life story for himself - do you guys remember the time I king hit Hayden Young behind play? I am tougher than an AFL player.
It just doesn't seem to happen any more. That sort of raw thuggery has diminished so much at all levels, even ammos.
It makes sense to me to ease a guy coming off two hammies in quick succession back via the reserves. It's a long year
They’re hard and rough but it’s actually a good step for players like Erasmus to go through.
They have tried with Fyfe and he’s fine. It’s easier to slowly get into the game without worrying about mistakes in AFL

JOM and Wagner in the 22. Banfield the sub. Worner and Aish outside the 23. This was the team for the derby before JOM and Wagner were late withdrawals, and a 95% chance that's what it will be this week barring any more late withdrawals (e.g. Sharp).
I think that is probably the way it'll go. Brodie and Reidy are pure emergencies only... hopefully Worner isn't picked, I cannot see what the guy offers. Don't rate Banfield either, but the bloke tries hard and is a decent sub option.

Ok with Young going through the WAFL, and then has an easier first up match vs Richmond as well off broadway in the Barossa.

Worner was very good defensively. He had some cat 10 errors, twice, but otherwise was very good.

Let's be honest probably 15-16 teams in the AFL have a Bailey Banfield or multiple. He's below average but not terrible. On occasions he's pretty good like this exact game last year.

Only the genuinely sh** teams have a Karl Worner. Gets himself into good defensive positions but I fail to see what else he offers.

Is it wrong that I don't want Switta back? I want to keep Bolton, Dudley and Reid together. Trio of smart, classy ball users and that kick goals from anywhere.
No.

Love to see players who create goals. While, defensive pressure and contest possessions are important, goals are the mission.

Reid and Bolton are very good in the contest anyway.

Dudley is more outside but seriously you can’t get everything sucked into the contest.

All three seem to work well together but it’s only one game against a horrible side.

I reckon he had four Cat 10 errors last week.
The time he grabbed the ball ahead of Ryan/Clark in the goal square and kicked it straight out to Jayden Hunt (who luckily was too shit to convert the set shot). I think I burst out laughing after that one it was so ridiculous.

He makes Ethan Hughes look like Scotty Pendlebury. You can’t carry players like that in a serious AFL team, will cost 2-3 goals a game and that’s the difference between winning and losing most games especially a low scoring side like us.

Switta easily walks into this team. I know this board doesn't rate him, but he's without doubt walking back into the team.

We play 7 forwards.

Bolton and eventually Reid will play significant mid time.

We can at least play
Bolton, Dudley, Reid, Switta plus Treacy, Amiss and Voss or Jackson.

Even if we had Pickett or another good small forward, I would play the above 7 and just rotate Bolton and Amiss more through the middle. I just want more quality ball users in the team.

I think you’re right apart from Chappy. He was 7th in the 2km time trial in his draft year (NOD was 8th). The best thing about Chappy is he would be a much better aerially threat than Sharp when he dropped back to help out the defence.

Always thought that was the intention with Chappy, play him midfield/wing. I guess necessity sees him remain down back. He seems to have better awareness now although I have always wondered about his peripheral vision. If he played fat side I reckon he'd be in danger of running into the fence. I do love Chappy though.

I think all that is correct, but the issue is we lose Chappy from the backline.

If we signed a new defender who could help our rebound, then I would support Chappy moving to the wing to replace Sharp.

I really don't want to see Worner give up 2 goals a game, and I think he is our 8th defender at the moment (First non tall defender to come in, if we have an injury).

I thought Worner gave up 1 goal? He did two terrible Clanger kicks for 1 goal, 1 point. Pretty much the same as a lot of other mistakes like Sharps dropped Mark.

He defended pretty well. He’s low down on the pecking order and getting replaced when we get Wagner back but I recon he will improve if we’re forced to give him a decent run at it due to injuries.

Yeah you are right.

Yeah, he did defend well except for those skill errors, but can you afford to have someone like that in your team come finals?

Would it be 2 goals if we played against a top 4 team? What about if they brought more pressure, then does it become 3 goals?

I think we need to improve the skill of our entire team.

Let's see how Dudley goes against actual opposition rather than glorified witches hats before making calls like this one.

Interesting to see who comes out for him. I'm not sure Dudley plays the same role as Switta. I definitely want as many games pumped into Reid as humanly possible. Really interesting times ahead.

Perfect spot for Treacy's knee when taking a big contested mark.
Sure looks like a target. I'm all for characters and people not being suck-up robots, but feels like Lobbsta has swung too much the other way!! Proper Knobb.

Feels like there's still some bad blood between him and the Dockers. Might get spicy on Sunday, hold on to your hairpieces!!
