100%.

Hinkley has actually instilled negativity into this players for 13 years. It's bat$hit crazy.

A positive and intelligent Carr could swing us 20 to 30 points without lifting a finger.

Recently we've had good teams and they've done well but with a few injuries this year, Hinkley has shown he couldn't get juice out of an orange.

So this year you've got the usual negativity mixed in with ambivalence of his last year. He will be hoping that Butters cracks the team up.

I don't think the list is that bad. I think its quite good but the nice boat has been rudderless for a long time.
Our main list is is okay but it falls away dramatically at the tail, our depth is SANFL standard at best.

That can be changed.

Josh will have some guys he brings in.

It is more important to have a great 23 to 28 and then work out the rest.

I think it will be another huge offseason and we will see what Josh is planning for the team. If Butters and Bergman leave then it will be a monumental offseason.

It's unfortunate that David Koch doesn't understand football and the expectations of our club on field because off field he has done a good job.

He has destroyed the edge that used to separate us from other clubs. I understand the modern day club is vastly different from the good old days but that doesn't mean your standards and expectations should fall away.

Hopefully you're right but if we have to trade players like Butters to get into the draft it's like shooting yourself in the foot, we need players like him to build a team around.

does any of the above actually mean anything? Just non-committal ramblings, word salad. By design too. The art of saying a lot of words without actually saying anything at all that you can be held accountable to. complete horseshit.
"We are starting to get there." It's funny - hasn't he been saying this for the last decade? By the time he actually gets there, most of us will be dead.

Yeah, I know. I reckon bring them into one and call it Dechair Koch.

The general one is fluff anyway.
Yeah I want them merged and numbered so that like the Ken one you start to get an idea of the depth and length of dissatisfaction.

This is gonna be super unpopular, but Koch's biggest mistake in my eyes is being soft enough to let narcissists and fools run over the top of him. He's been conned and manipulated by Hinkley for over a decade now. Like almost everyone within the club I'm willing to give him at least a season once the parasite is removed to see if he can turn it around.

Hinkley’s weren’t merged. The “Sack” just took over.

He possibly would've been alright if we'd had a real coach schooling him on expectations and being ruthless in pro sport however it's too late & he needs to go, I'm not comfortable with this length of tenure for any chairman really it's as stale as keeping the dud coach forever.

Koch is a narcissist fool. His ego is such that he doesn't let anyone "run over the top of him".

This logic applies to players like Rozee who have no choice in the matter. It doesn't apply to the guy who is the reason the parasite is still employed.

Hinkley isn't the cause, he's the symptom. Koch is the cause.

I fully believe Hinkley is still here because the likes of Davies and Cardone have told Koch that Hinkley needs to stay and Koch has backed that in.

Koch's issue is that instead of pushing back on that when it didn't work 10 years in a row, he's so arrogant that he can't fathom that he might have backed in the wrong people and he thinks we're an insanely well run club, and takes full credit for that.

If Koch knew his own limitations, he'd have set some (reasonable) performance benchmarks and taken some action when those benchmarks weren't met. Instead, he behaved like his plan was a procession to greatness and then when it turned out to be a steaming pile of shit, he lowered the benchmarks after the fact to a pathetic level and then claimed victory.

Koch coming on as chairman has been a disaster for this club. Lots of people could have fixed the financial issues we had especially as we'd just moved to a shiny new stadium, but plenty of people would have been able to do it without completely torpedoing everything sacred about the club.

Yeah I agree, Hinkley must have a good relationship with the people you mention to have the guts to stick around.

...
I don't buy it that someone with Koch's huge ego declared he wanted to make Hinkley a ten year coach at Port, which he later doubled down on to twenty years, because underlings told him to.

Koch's point isn't about Hinkley specifically, what he's effectively say there is that his regime is perfect and everything he's doing is correct and he should continue doing it.

Koch likes Ken, but his comments are a product of his own arrogance, not his faith in Ken specifically.

You are correct but if Hinkley had any morals and concern for the club he would have left on his own accord when he realised that he could not do any more with the list he had, instead he stuck around and burnt 2 more lists, oh and blackmailed the club for a new contract using GC as his leverage.

Koch needs to stay out of footy matters and stick to the financial side of things, he is a football dunce.

Koch does NOT like Ken. Koch fears Ken. Koch fears losing all our best players when Ken exits. Koch is no leader. He’s a blow-up doll fitted with a recorded message.

Agree. It's Koch's arrogance and ego. He has persisted with Hinkley because he couldn't admit that he made a mistake in backing him with the initial unwarranted contract extensions.

Hinkley thinks he's a great coach, pure and simple. The list, injuries, players not turning up, recruiting, assistants, doctors, fitness, the sanfl, our history, one captain, humidity, hard competition all contribute negatively toward his legacy and coaching dynasty.
So much so that it went we are a collective here, to it's the players fault after the Essendon stinker.

Imagine the absolute disdain he'd have for our past greats at both levels, and how threatened he would be by what they've achieved and their winners mentality.

Sitting through those Hall of Fame nights must just be complete agony for him.

He starts his John Cahill Medal speech last year with "great to see you Jack, we only see each other once a year at these things"... 😂 😂 😂

Invite the bloke into your office for a coffee a couple of times a season you ****ing plonker, you might learn something.
