the day our player group layed down
was a sad dark day

I'd much rather watch that game than the disgusting Tom Hafey tribute game V the Dees...

Can you nominate one game where Ryan has beaten or broken even with a good key defender at AFL level for even half a game. If we don't play Simms them maybe we could play Blight as a defensive forward and play Gray as a defender. Blight has really stepped up this year and didn't look too bad when he was played forward against Port considering he has always trained as a defender. Playing on Andrews could be a good learning exercise.
As I mentioned to another poster this morning, I want us to bring Ryan in and answer once and for all whether he has a future with us long term. There was plenty of talk about him during the summer, so lets find out if he can back up that hype with actually performing in a game against a quality opponent. If he can, then it makes things a bit easier on Yze and the other coaches moving forward knowing that a couple of the areas we need to address moving forward have a solid solution in place. If he can't then we know we need to start putting even more time into the younger guys like Sims & Fawcett to be that 2nd ruck/KPF option in support of Lynch initially then either Armstrong or Faull come 2026 and beyond.

Eventually Ryan is going to need to be given a shot at the level, so no time like the present to give him a 3-4 week block against some strong opponents and let him sink or swim.

As far as Blight is concerned, I said the same thing with Balta and I'll say it with Blight, leave him as a defender and don't start messing around with his development. He's been in the system not even a year and he stands out as a defender and if developed properly could make a damn good one for the next decade alongside Balta Trainor & Gibcus as we strive for the next era of success.

Man what's up with the sat 415 time slot for us I have to rely on dodgy streams :(
The AFL are screwing up by giving us all these 4.15 games. It's clear they eventually want a twilight GF and by time they bring it in, we'll be the masters of playing at that time and it will be no issue for us

If we're playing Lynch and Sims, then Andrews could break the record for intercept marks as they'll back Lester to mind Sims on debut, have Payne man Lynch and let him just float around on his own intercepting the ball as it comes in.

Ryan at the very least has the size and strength to compete in the contest as well ad being more capable in the ruck than using Blight.
Yep, Andrews needs to be accountable.

I agree with the below
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Blight to be the second forward and also relief ruckman. Gray to take his spot down back.

If we don't play Simms them maybe we could play Blight as a defensive forward and play Gray as a defender. Blight has really stepped up this year and didn'

Perfect idea, I reckon. Blight defensively on Andrews and relief for Nank. He’s shown good signs in the ruck.

And debuting Gray - great idea.

Reckon Brisbane might just walk through this game. Win it and keep on keeping on. Their season starts in a few months.

Like ours used to.
Brisbane looked pretty average when they thought they could just turn up and beat West Coast. Shame the Eagles didn’t capitalise on their dominance.

No one’s unbeatable.

Lions have been starting slowly, that suggests to me they are going through the motions a bit. Might be gettable if we’re switched on.

Reckon Lions will have to be asleep not to win this.

But I suspect they will take the 4 points and 3 - 4 goal win. They know that the season really starts in 2 months-ish. So putting it all in now is a losers game.

few suggesting to drop Trezise, I'm hoping we dont.
Just the player who we need to pump games into and let him find his feet through stability in the team.
This season is about development and Jimmy won't get this in the VFL, he will playing seniors.

Their run and spread will kill us in the second half. We’ll also play Neale and Cameron in to form.

I’m with you that Brisbane won’t play at full tilt, but I won’t be surprised if they still do us by 60 to 100.
