ROB is so hot and cold, when was the last time he played a 'play your role game' he either stinks it up or plays absolute blinders. The latter less often unfortunately 😅

We're obviously much better overall, but the (relatively) simple additions of Peatling, Cumming and ANB are a key part of that. They're doing nothing more than playing their roles, but doing that has allowed guys like Dawson, Rachele, Soligo and Rankine to just play their roles too. They don't need to bust a nut to win it off their own boot. The even spread of contribution means that the pure talent is the icing, not the cake.

It's early, and we haven't needed to use our depth yet (and we eventually will), but the list management team needs props even though a lot of us have sh*t on them over the last decade.

Oh also, in the past there's no way that Nicks would've done something as common sense as subbing Rankine when 50 points up in the 3rd quarter, even if it meant not winning by 80. Kudos Murray Davis.

Excellent win against poor opposition. Clinically destroyed them and the game was done at half time. Essendon came back to kick some junk time stuff late but no real concerns over the Dons' score

Nicks' challenge from here will be to transfer this momentum into games against better sides. IMO we are playing three of the bottom five teams in the first three rounds

Good:
Breaking an eight year G hoodoo
Rash is going to realise his potential this season
Rankine - reminiscent of McLeod
ANB >>>> Murphy
Thilthorpe
We're unironically stacked in the midfield now. Rankine, Dawson, Soligo with the likes of Draper, Crouch (who has a great role with pace and skills around him) pitching in.
Keays - did his job in the midfield in his early years when we were so thin there, but he's a forward through and through, and a damn good one at that
Curtin showed some promising signs, must persist
Our marking was on song

Bad:
Conceding 100 points to an anaemic forward line - our defence needs some tidying up still, especially in the skills department. We gifted them a few through some very sloppy errors.

Good start to the year, although I reckon we’ve played 2 of the bottom 4 sides and will again next week. The Suns game will be interesting in a fortnight.

Where do we think Peatlings at? Hasn’t had a standout start to the year, hasn’t been bad either, just sort of been doing his role. But we gave up a second rounder to get him in. Would we be losing anything by playing a Nankervis, Taylor, Dowling instead?

Just remember - Essendon looked pretty decent last week against the Hawks and we made them look as bad as St Kilda - on the MCG.

This is a side that should be playing and winning in September.

Jeez I don't reckon Essendon will get near finals

Just saw this post and wow mind blown.

Essendon only the third home team this century to kick 100 points and lose by 10 goals.

The others - Carlton lost to Adelaide by 176 to 104 in 2009, North lost to Adelaide by 162 to 100 in 2001 and West Coast lost to Melbourne by 170 to 100 in 2000.
