It's become a bit of a joke how many Northern Academy players there are every year. On another note no wonder so many clubs traded this years first round picks last year. What's the point of keeping it when it will be pick 47 by the time all the Academy players are drafted.

Cheating Pretty Much really

Clubs would love to get NGA Prospects into the Club early like Northern Teams Do

This year they have to pay as much for them as nga’s. It’s all in line. You’ll find that northern academy prospects will end up at other clubs. Like us getting Cochran or Syd getting riak Andrew. Suns getting a gws prospect.
Will make it harder for clubs to keep all of their academy players imo

Mostly they are Norther State Rejects that they did not rate

Sorry to intrude guys but does anyone know who the next collingwood national recruiting manager is likely to be ? Any rumours or leaks from the club ?
There are a few contenders:

Former Magpie Shane O’Bree, now a Geelong recruiter, is in the mix for Collingwood’s national recruiting manager job.Port Adelaide’s Anthony Parkin and Fremantle’s Liam Woodland also among contenders.

Have you heard something?
Someone you don’t want to loose?
Or are you considering applying?

COLLINGWOOD is the most popular club of choice for this year’s brightest Coates Talent League prospects, headlined by father-son gun Tom McGuane. The son of 152-game premiership Pie, Mick was among the Vic Country, Metro, and Allies hub members to pledge their allegiance to the black and white.
Of the 43 surveyed players, a high of eight are Magpies supporters

BENDIGO PIONEERS:
Shaun Watson – Collingwood. (No surprise, given he is the nephew to Chris Tarrant)

CALDER CANNONS:
Felix Kneipp – Collingwood

DANDENONG STINGRAYS:
Josh Granger – Collingwood

EASTERN RANGES:
Andrew Barker – Collingwood
Lachy Dovaston – Collingwood

GEELONG FALCONS:

We'll take them all. Thanks.

Another father-son likely to attract a first-round bid is classy on-baller Tom McGuane, set to make his way to the Pies via the Western Jets.

Is Riley Onley the NGA prospect tied to us?

Is Riley Onley the NGA prospect tied to us?
No.
Just a kid that trained with us in the preseason as part of the afl academy, and he's training with our vfl this year as its closer to where he is living rather than make the trek to murray bushrangers weekly.

Tom McGuane, the son of former Magpie Mick, has spent time training with Collingwood and has an impressive bottom-aged season.
And Oscar Lonie (son of Ryan) is father-son eligible at Collingwood.

It's become a bit of a joke how many Northern Academy players there are every year. On another note no wonder so many clubs traded this years first round picks last year. What's the point of keeping it when it will be pick 47 by the time all the Academy players are drafted.
A stupid question probably (I struggle with understanding the points and draft rules).

If we are chasing a F/S in McGuane is it therefore right/okay that we traded our future 1st because we can get McGuane with Points (ie the first round pick doesn’t matter much anyhow).

big fan of Houston so not knocking us having traded the 1st but keen to understand if we may not have cared for that pick anyway - if that makes sense

Rookie Me Central website says Oscar Lonie is 189cm now.

Will he be a big bodied mid or has he always played forward as the site states?

Played forward last year. We will see where they play him this year. Hopefully plays in round 1
