If you are pushing the narrative that Jews are bad and you hear a story of 'good Jews' you counter it quick smart with a story of 'bad Jews.' You push the idea that only the bad ones are representative of a group with diverse views.

After Jewish activists organised a spin-off protest outside state parliament to show support for Palestinians on Sunday, other Jewish groups, including the Lions of Zion, organised a counter-protest.

Lions of Zion member and co-organiser Isaac Balbin said that since October 7, Jewish Australians had not felt safe in Melbourne’s CBD. Now, he said, the community had had enough.

“We tried writing letters and doing things like that, but we simply haven’t seen change getting enforced. And so if you want something to happen, you’ve got to be willing to make that change happen yourself. So today we’ve come [to the CBD],” Balbin said.

“If you deny the Jewish people the right to self-determination in their ancestral homeland, you’re being a racist,” he said.

Trump has given Hamas until Saturday or all hell breaks loose! Most of the hostages are dead, so unless all the remaining ones are released at the same time things will go pear shaped very quickly.

You can never tell whether Trump is genuine or just spitballing off the cuff whith his grand statements being changed once action has to occur and the adults take over.

The Samaritans (jews who never left Israel) share more DNA with the Palestinians than they do with the Europeans who have moved to Israel since 1948. Even than with the Sephardic Jews who moved back to the Middle East earlier than that.

Plenty of Jews have been able to frequent the CBD without issues - lots of anti-zionists among them

Zionists, on the other hand, well maybe they should check which side of history they are going to end up on before having a whinge like that

As well as Syrians, Iraqi's , Jordanians, Lebanese etc.

Depends on your definition of Liberal democracy. Holding a vote at all is democratic, but Belarus does that.

They don't allow Palestinians under occupation to vote, just like Sth Africa. Some they allow to vote in municipal elections but not in Federal elections. They have restrictions on free speech. They're introducing laws against candidates saying anything about Palestinians existing, that'll get you permanently banned. They censure Arab MKs and remove them from the Knesset for similar reasons.

They openly state their religious supremacy reasons for all of these measures.

I'm not sure being a declared and legislated ethno-state and also being a liberal democracy are compatible.

The argument often made by European Jews is that they were expelled and they took the DNA with them, so of course they're not the same as local Palestinians. But there were jewish groups who stayed a lot closer and are even more tight knit (such as the Samaritans) who disprove that argument.

The photos were somewhere in the middle east...probably gaza... i know the new legislation stops people from covering their faces in melbourne...and pro-palestinians might fear the law more....why would pro israeli wear masks?
